Moving private plate from old to new car.
Hi all, Just looking for some advice. Purchased a new car at the weekend, due for delivery in the next week or 2. We have a private plate on our current car that we are trading in and that the garage have agreed to put onto the new car. They've told me they'll advise when they have a date for delivery to them, at which…

Car insurance - infrequent driving
Hi All, I hope you are well. Since car insurers ramp up their insurance costs are there any alternatives e.g. insurance per day rather than as ongoing monthly / annual cost? I don't drive every day, perhaps once or twice a week. I think insuring a car for daily driving considering the most recent price hikes is no longer…

Vauxhall Combo Issue
Hello, I am new here so please bear with me if this post is in the wrong place. 2 years ago I bought a Combo from a Peugeot/Citroen main dealer. It was 3yrs old when I bought it with one previous owner and had a little over 30,000 miles on it. I have always had it serviced and MOT'd when due and had no issues with the…

Dummy speed cameras on M6?
Travelling between Manchester and Birmingham recently, the M6 has these speed signs down most of its length. However, Waze only flags up about 1 in 4 as speed cameras and on looking closer, those 1 in 4 or so have a couple of yellow cameras bolted to the frame. Many drivers seem to realise this and only slow down for those…

Used Car Dealer not playing ball
Sorry for the long thread, but the history is relevant: Bought a used car 2 months ago with a 6 month dealer warranty. Cost £7k. The trader is a small oufit, working alongside an existing garage unit. Not a main dealer. On test drive I identifed the air conditioning wasn't working and it was agreed this would be fixed…

Right to repeat performance
Hi, I have recently bought a second hand vehicle (within the 30 day period) from a dealer (not online). The vehicle has had issues with oil sensors and has been returned twice for repair already. The same issue has come again, but because the customer service manager was not on annual leave for a week I have no success…

Car Insurance Non-Fault Claim Using Insurer Recommended Repairer
Unfortunately, I was rear ended at a roundabout. My car insurer: Kwikfit have passed me to Enterprise Rent A Car to deal with everything. No major damage but bumper cracked and paint damaged. My car is a 2018, in excellent condition other than this damage, it should be a fast and simple repair, there is no damage to the…

Next car dilemma - EV or hybrid or wait
I have a 2018 Yaris, which is mostly fine but I'm getting to the age where I would love an automatic. I'm currently doing around 8k a year - lots of trips less than 30 miles but 220 mile round trips once a month or so to see family - these are almost always day trips. I'm hoping to semi-retire soon and do more trips to see…

Fault that garage fixed reappeared a couple of months later
A few months ago at a traffic light my electronic parking handbrake stuck on I transported my car to a garage around the corner from me who replaced the motor on the electronic handbrake (third party part) Today the fault has reappeared so, I am guessing the garage fitted it in correctly which I believe is unlikely as it's…

MOT 13pin towbar electrics
Got my first MOT with 13 pin towbar electrics which are checked during the MOT. I have an adaptor which converts it to 12N and 12S. Some people say leave the adaptor on and then they aren't allowed to check them. Everything works OK but if leaving an adaptor on avoids all problems then it may be worth it?

Faulty 2nd hand car dealer refusing refund
hello, apologies if this is the wrong forum. I have a mental disability and this incident has left me quite distraught. I bought a car for just under £5000 on the 25/10/24. This was from a AA registered dealer 3 hours away and I paid by bank transfer. By the 4/11/24 I had to top up the coolant for the second time so called…

What information do the DVLA need?
Hi all. I've filled out an application to replace my driving license. It was a paper one issued back in 1994 and I've never had a photo license before. Unfortunately it got destroyed in the wash not too long ago. After completing the online form and consenting the DVLA to use my passport info for the photo, why are they…

Autotrader - excluding/blocking Cinch
I’m currently looking for a replacement car and want to be able to view given the plethora of options (and Covid spec cars). When I search on Autotrader the first couple of pages are cars from Cinch available with a mile (because they’ll deliver to my local WBAC site) which leaves me trawling for the non-Cinch cars that…

Contacted the original filter (small business) to get done and he says he'll replace it for free as it had lifetime warranty. This is great but it doesn't really sit well with me as ts not like…

Rejecting Leased Car
I have leased a Kia EV6 through my business on a 4 year lease. I am one year in, and the car has been in for repair for 4 months. I have just been told today that it needs to go back to the factory (Derbyshire apparently, not Korea, luckily), but there will be a further estimated 4-month wait for the repair to be completed…

Would you buy a car from a private buyer?
Its been around 20 years since I've purchased a car from a private seller so asking for advice. I'm looking for a 2nd hand car around £18k and I've seen a car that is exactly what I want on eBay via a private seller. Its has full dealer service history, all paperwork, has the extended dealers warranty and a price I'd be…

No Claim Discount Proof letter - is it transferable
Since 2021 I have not had car insurance in my own name, as my wife and I have had only 1 car, in her name, and I have been a named driver. However we are likely to buy a second car soon, which will be in my name. I have a letter from my old insurance company to say that, as of 2021, I had 9 years' 'no claims bonus'. I do…
