Motor insurance hike - 300%
My car insurance is due in March, and my insurer has sent me a renewal quote. Last year I paid £360. For the new year it wants £1,026. OUCH!!! OUCH!!! MoneySuperMarket quoted me around £770 but that's still steep! (Maybe it's because of all those iPads Dame Judi keeps throwing around). Confused wasn't much better - will…

Car insurance and no claims.
I’ve been driving for 7 years now. For personal reasons my car is in my dad’s name. He has always done my insurance, he insures in his name but I’m the named driver. My question is by doing this would I have any no claims discount? I’m having to do my own insurance now and I have no idea.

Absolutely SHOCKED! Had 2 tyres repaired and DID NOT GET CHARGED!
I took two wheels / tyres to a branch of F1autocentres (Formula One Autocentres) in Malvern, both of which were flat because both of them had perished rubber on the valves (see p. hoto). I was expecting to have to pay for new tyres. I asked for prices for both tyres and to be honest the budget brands they had were cheaper…

Dashcam - am I missing something here?
Just bought an Object brand, dual camera Dashcam. The front camera is part of a rear view mirror, that clips over the existing interior mirror, and the rear camera is a little cube, about 1"x1"x1", which plugs into the mirror unit, with a very long wire. When I power it up, the front camera (the one built into the mirror…

Small collision - next steps and how to contact the other party's insurer?
I was involved in a small collision: urban 20mph road, I slowed down to let some pedestrians cross at a zebra, a pickup truck (a real commercial vehicle, not a big fancy SUV) hit me from behind. I was unhurt but the registration plate cracked and there was some minor damage at the back. I don't have a dashcam but I made a…

NHS Fleet Solutions haven't taken payments for my lease car for 6 months.
Hi everyone. We lease a car through NHS Fleet Solutions. Love the car, no problems with it. The lease started in May 2022. It's in my partner's name and I'm a named driver. In July 2023 she was offered a job for a different NHS trust which she accepted. Prior to accepting she checked with NHS Fleet Solutions that she could…

Scammed: paid for an MOT which was never done. Options?
A relative sought my help because she got scammed but I'm unsure what to suggest. Basically she paid for an MOT which never happened so she had to redo it elsewhere. * She went to a garage for the MOT on her car. * After a few months, she checked on the gov website and noticed her MOT had expired, meaning the garage had…

Car gear Not working 😞
Hi everyone, hope you're all well. I haven't driven my audi petrol, manual 07 plate over a year and it's been parked in a friend's garage. No one sadly started it. However, I had to jump start the car with leads as battery is completely dead. The gears don't physically move side to side. Only move in 1 direction up and…

Who pays the petrol in a courtesy car?
Who pays the petrol in a curtsey car? My local garage gives me a curtsey car every time my car is having work done, but the petrol needle is always on or touching the red. To start with I ignored this and managed to get home on the 8 mile journey. However, I decided to be sensible and fill up the car with petrol on the…

BlueLight card offer on Esso fuel
Hi Looking for someone who has some feedback on taking advantage of this BlueLight Card (BLC) offer and I've put details in bold below. Checked my local area on PetrolPrices app and a discount of 4p on standard diesel would get close to our local supermarket price and if I shop around Esso stations I could get it cheaper…

Any tips to improve ride quality?
Bit of a weird one, I've had an Abarth for about 5 years and sometimes have to drive long distances for work. I have back issues and the car is becoming unbearable on these journeys regardless of how many breaks I take or how much I adjust my seat. Is there anything I can do to improve the ride quality? And yes I can most…

Lied to over warranty being in place when purchasing a car, who to hold accountable?
In August 2022 I purchased a vehicle, with a deposit paid to dealer, and the rest via PCP with the lender Moneybarn. This was on the premise of there being a six month warranty being in place. In November 2022 I discovered the heater matrix was faulty, therefore I couldn’t use the car in any sort of cold spell. I presumed…

Honda Finance Agreement - Flat Rate vs APR - new claim??
Hi, I was reviewing where I am with my car finance and found 2 statements. I bought a Honda car in June 2021, with an advertised Interest Rate of 2.5% and a product type of "Honda Aspirations". This was listed on the statement. The following year, the statement shows product type "PCP Regulated" and interest rate of "4.9%…

Need to change name and address on provisional driving licence - but haven't done so for 5 years
7 years ago I got my provisional driving licence for ID purposes only. Then, 2 years later, I changed my first name by deed poll, but just never changed my driving licence. I also changed address the following year, but again, left my driving licence. It's been gathering dust in a draw; I've never used it for anything.…

M27 Services
I am in the process of buying a Fiat500e and mostly will use it for short local journeys. However, about twice a year I travel from Somerset to West Sussex, which would be a push without recharging. Does anyone know whether the power outlets at Rownhams service are tethered or untethered- - the web site doesn't say, and I…
