Valid Rejection on 5 week old car?
Options
Hey all,
I bought a car around 5 weeks ago, and whilst I love the car the quality has been very poor. The car was bought on PCP brand new.
First off the car was missing some of the spec/trim however I didn’t mind the look so they were great and agreed to fit one of the extra packs as a compliment instead of the extra trim. They said if I grabbed the parts and took them in they would fit them all free of charge and reimburse the parts, everything was fitted however I’m still yet to receive the money from them, despite them saying “it will be with you soon”.

Then comes the quality of the car, there have been a handful of issues with the interior, with bits not being fully pushed in, to bits coming off and some rattles developing in the dash. I’ve already booked the car in for a few weeks time to get this looked at.
Im starting to however think this just wasn’t meant to be, the staff are lovely and I do really like the car however with the delay in payment for the parts, the trim not being correct in the first place and with the quality of the vehicle interior I’m tempted to push to reject the car. Would I have any luck with this or would it be best to let them have a look at the rattles and loose interior? I bought the car five weeks ago so just out of the 30 day window.
Appreciate any help!

It would help if we knew what car we are talking about here.

5 weeks is too late to reject, there is a 30 days "short term right to reject" if it has a minor fault, not as described, not fit for purpose etc. The fact that it was the wrong trim spec would have counted as "not as described", except you'd have to prove you specifically wanted a particular trim level and/or features, and it wasn't supplied.
Now you're beyond the 30 days, they can repair/replace/refund. I believe they have one chance to do this, if it doesn't work then at that point you can ask for refund.
Given that you made a deal outside of the normal custom of having them do a repair (or upgrade/add trim or accessories etc) by you buying parts for them to fit, its a different issue than the original purchase of the car, so I don't think you have any claim under CRA2015. Also, of course, they've now fitted those extra parts/trim.
Regarding dash rattles, my gut feeling is it needs to be a bigger issue than that to reject the car. Its a subjective, grey area thing if it makes a slight rattle, they might say its a characteristic of the car etc. If the dash physically came off, it would be a different matter.0 -
What make and or model of car is it?
