Renewing Driving License Online - DVLA says they cant confirm my identity

hi!  Is anyone having problems renewing their driving license online with a new passport?  My passport has just been renewed and when I try to renew my driving license online, I get a massage saying that the DVLA can not confirm my identity and that I will need to apply another way.

How new is the passport?  Leave it a couple of weeks and try again?  Double check all the details are 100% correct.

The online licence renewal with passport access won't work with any passport issued from around 2019 onwards but they won't tell you this. Mine didn't and I had to renew my driving licence manually in the post.

At least the massage should help relieve some of the stress! :-)

My passport is out of date and normally use driving license as id.
So online is not an option.
In my opinion the best way is the post office, not the cheapest but works super fast.
11 years ago took 3 days for new license to arrive.
Last year during covid took 5 working days.
I read post where people mailed it in and took 5 months or more.
The post office system is automated and when they hit send your new licence is in the queue to be printed, that’s why it’s so quick even now with delays blamed on covid. Stillllllll.

Mrs K renewed her licence online end of last year with passport issued early 2021 - no problem!

Maybe they fixed it but it wouldn't work a year ago with a 2019 issued passport. Fact.

Obviously if you write "Fact" after a statement it must be true.

FWIW I renewed my passport in January 2020, and my licence a month later without a problem.

Yes it's true why would I make it up. I even phoned the DVLA at the time and they even said there was nothing they could do if it wasn't accepting my passport and to renew another way.
