Changing Supplier
Thinking of changing supplier for gas and elec. Does anyone know what happens with the feed in tariff payment for solar panels. Will the new supplier be responsible for making the FIT payments or will the previous supplier continue to make the fit payments

Unbelievable hassle chasing up Elec switch to E-On
I signed up to MSE Energy Club when my elec deal was coming to an end and was offered a seemingly better deal with E-On. I agreed, filled in the stuff and got a confirmation from MSE Energy Club. 22 days later, I hadn't heard anything from E-On & my pre-existing supplier transferred me to their sucker tariff because I…

Cheapest gas meter installers
Hi not sure I'm posting this in the right place. I'm hoping someone can help. I need to get a gas meter installed, in order to install radiators. I have tried googling, to find who is the cheapest, but can't seem to find a comparison site for this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Highest tariff for 4 years.
We moved into our house over four years ago, the house is a private rent. When we moved in the house had storage heaters up until 1 1/2 years ago. My electricity bill per month has been between £130 and £190. We phoned Scottish power (upon advise from a friend) and they said our new monthly bill could be £62 per month. I…

Stove Pipe collar
I have installed a Charnwood Island 1 stove, connected to a chimney flue through a brick wall by a 6" cast iron flue pip. It looks a bit messy where the pipe goes through the wall and rather than fill it up with grout I'm looking for some sort of collar to round the pipe. The slight problem is where the flue pipe connects…

Problem after boiler service
On Friday I had the annual service for our Worcester gas boiler which was done by the firm who installed it 6 years ago. For a little bit of history, we’d a problem with the heating 6 months ago when the heating would not go off and a faulty valve was replaced. We were surprised when the engineer contacted us the next day…

Useless Smart Meter
Hi all. Lucky me, just got a smart meter installed. Trouble is, because I live in a top floor flat, and the meters are in the basement, the remote display doesn't work. Asked the 'engineer' who installed it, he just shrugged his shoulders. Spoke to the suppliers, who said at least they could now get accurate meter…

How much is my multifuel stove worth?
Good Evening All, Probably not the right place for this thread but i thought the DIY section possibly may have more views it's more suited here. I am currently renovating a property and have decided to take out the multi fuel stove that was in place. Nothing wrong with it apart from the chimney wasn't lined and i'm not too…

House renovation...Energy saving measures!!
We moved into this 100 years old house last year (5 beds detached) and obviously there is a lot of energy waste considering the house age and the inefficient 40 years old boiler. My annual gas use (Heating and cooking) was 24000 KW in comparison with 12000 in our previous house. This is with very tight use of heating (2…

Unoccupied properties.
There are a number of people who have properties that are unoccupied for long periods in the winter, e.g. holiday homes, people who spend some of the winter abroad, between sales/lettings etc. In my case I have a little used detached annex(converted stables) that is fully gas centrally heated with a combi boiler. For the…

Storage Heater vs Oil Filled Radiators Advice
So my girlfriend and I have just been accepted for a two bedroom apartment in Cambridge. As most old apartment buildings, we have the dreaded storage heaters. Having never used these before but hearing from people how much of a nightmare they can be, I am keen to try some alternatives. We will be on Economy 7 tariff so our…

Warm home discount
I applied for the warm home discount again in 2016,as I have received this each year that I have applied. A few weeks ago it seemed strange that British Gas hadn't made the payment,so I contacted them regarding it. I was astonished when they told me my account was no longer with them, but I was with Scottish Power. It was…

Are "collective deals" trustworthy?
Hello! I am late with switching from my fixed contract ending this month because I've been ill. Before that, my latest checks with CEC had given as winners some little known companies, many of them with bad CS and one of them "currently being probed by Ofgem" (!!!) At the time another comparison site had similar results.…
