Gas/Elec changing suppliers through Cheap Energy Club.
I am totally confused why an estimate supplied by Cheap Energy Club & an estimate made direct to company is so way out. I don't know who to believe. Example: and this is not a collective fix so should be similar which ever way you get an estimate. OVO 2 year fix which energy club recommend as a great fix. OVO direct £107…

Ductless Air Conditioning vs Updating Central Heating?
We're just in the early process of moving house, moving to the 'technical forever home' a detached 3 bed bungalow with a concrete floor. On viewing we noticed that it has a single line central heating system installed, with pipework that's been in the concrete ground since early '80's and the system by design won't win any…

Squealing Oil Boiler
Hi there, We put the heating on today as we have been away (in addition to heating the hot water) and after a few hours we noticed some squealing from our Grant Vortex Pro Oil Boiler (15/21 Utility). Our annual service is not due until November but I am thinking I need to get this checked, and perhaps get the service done…

BRITISH GAS doing strange things with monthly payments
Hi all, I'm looking to change gas & electric supplier as lots of people are. My British Gas fixed tariff is coming to an end and I'm looking to find a better option. But what's strange is... A few weeks ago BG sent me a bill saying my monthly direct debit was going from £80 to £120. That's a big rise and I questioned them…

Earlier today I tired to help a disabled lady who Eon forced a prepaid meter onto despite her pointing out she isn't capable of operating it - she lives alone independently no carer and as no family. She is on the NHS and national grid register as a customer with special needs due to medical condition and epuipment,…

We have been given 5 solar panels.
What do we do with them? Connect them to the hot water tank, storage heaters or central heating. We don't have any storage heaters yet. Where, how would we save the most money? Towser anticipates using/storing all the power he generates, so is not concerned about selling it back (FIT). We have a multifuel Rayburn which…

Replacement for PassivLiving energy hub suggestions please
I have a 5 year old SolarPV system which is a 3.6KW home system setup by a company called "PVSolar" who apparently went bust last month. The monitoring system is supplied by PassivLiving and that has died today. Apparently the hub has a connector inside it that connects with the tablet and that has failed thereby rendering…

Hi, can anyone advise me please? We moved into an electric-only 2 bed flat last October which had old night storage heaters and an immersion heater for the hot water on Economy 7. We've replaced the storage heaters with new non-storage electric wall heaters but still have the immersion heater for hot water. We still have…

air to air heat or storage heaters
The bungalow we live in Cornwall is heated via storage heaters and a log burner in the lounge, the property is quite exposed so the effect of the heating is quite varied, to further compound the problems the heaters are also undersize in the study /main bedroom. We have had a quote for air to air heating but it sounds too…

Just had new double glazing installed to replace the old DG units that were 20 years old.
