Edited discussion title: suspected LPG gas leak - help
I posted this message in another forum so apologies for duplicate posting. We switched off the LPG supply at the tank yesterday (suspected leak) and today we turned it on again but this has not restored the supply. We have tried resetting the regulator but this has not worked. Does anyone have any ideas before we call out…

How to work out usage?
Hi, We have just had a new 35kw gas boiler installed, we use Propane as we are not on mains gas. Our last 3 year old Daikin hybrid gas boiler/heat pump died, the heat exchange filled up with water and it was out of warranty, running in emergency mode and THE most complicated heating system known to man. I'm interested to…

Solar Panels - Yay or Nay?
What are the cons I am not considering for solar and maybe some of the less obvious pros? My Sept 2021 tariff has another 15 months to run and then I am in for a world of hurt, having just calculated my bills at todays prices. Got me seriously considering solar as I will be savings upward of £100 a month if I can generate…

Heating oil rebate
3 months since announcing the £400 electricity/gas grant, the UK Government have still not advised when those using oil for their heating will receive any assistance or how it will be rolled out. I believe it will be a measily £100 which will but about 1 week worth of oil (current ppl is approx £0.95) and won't be of much…

£100 Energy Subsidy increasing to £200
If I heard right, the Government just announced in the Autumn Statement that it is increasing the £100 subsidy to £200, no clear indication of when we are set to get this though.

Oil £100 payment info
Got this info from my local oil club today. Update on the extra £100 support for heating oil users: As with the wider Energy Bills Support Scheme model, the Government has now announced the £100 for oil users will be credited via your electricity provider against your electricity account. However, we dont know when this…

Solar install without MCS registered installer
I've recently had solar panels installed with a battery for storage. However, there are times when the solar panels are generating more than the battery can store, so some power is going back to the grid. I'd like to sign up for a feed in tariff to get paid for the excess power I'm generating, but it seems that an MCS…

How much (kg) and what type of fuel do you use in your multifuel stove?
I have just bought a multifuel stove 5kw size, i have done my research given the fuel crisis and such but my research gives me many different results. I know thre's many factors such as; House size to heat - 2 bed semi, will mainly be using the fire to warm our open plan front room diner, nothing massive. How often will it…

LPG Boiler Service Contract
I've just had our renewal come through for our Worcester Bosch (Domestic & General) Service Contract and it'd increased £10 to a ridiculous £38 per month. Does anyone know any alternative providers who cover LPG boilers which are over 10 years old? The other option is to service it independently and self-insure.

Figuring out temperature on Glowworm Economy Plus Boiler
Hi all, as probably many people are doing, I'm trying to figure out what my temperature is on my Glowworm Economy Plus Boiler. It has a dial, 1 - 4, but no where in the manual does it state what numbers these represent in form of temperature. Anyone got an idea as it would be handy to know. Thanks!

Blanking Plate Rusted off Back of Multi Fuel Stove
Hi All, I live in a rural property with no gas mains, I rely on a Hunter multi-fuel stove that's always been relatively trouble free. The other night I heard a metallic thud, assumed it was the cat knocking something over and thought nothing of it. A week or so later I was giving my stove its annual fettle before the…

Cheapest supplier of smokeless coal/briquettes this year?
Does anyone have the best prices for smokeless bags of 'coal' this year please? I normally buy from a local chandlery, and it's gone from £12.50 for 25kg to £16.50 for 25kg this year. This might be the best price I can get it, but I just wondered what other people are paying for this kind of fuel, and if I can get it any…

Home heating oil help. We cannot wait for the 'detail'. Can help come retrospectively? Need oil NOW
Can someone please convey to Martin Lewis the unintended cosequences of not having an announcement urgently that help will be back-dated for those of us that need to buy our oil for the year NOW so that he can lobby for retrospective help. We don't need the detail, just please announce that we won't miss out if we buy the…

LPG user, elderly parent, how to minimise cost
I understand that LPG supply of gas via large tank in the garden does not come under the governments energy price cap. My elderly mother (78) is worried as she has a gas boiler linked to a large tank for hot water and her heating. She is of the mind short term to buy some electric radiators for heating, but other than…

Villager Flatmate - do I fill these gaps?
Just scraped out literally kgs of rust from the inside, especially from the underside of the top plate. Was starting to think there would be little metal left, but actually it's pretty solid. And cleaned out a ~10mm gap between the rear firebricks and the back panel - see photo. Also, due to the square shape of the floor…

Oil Boiler doesn't want to stay on.
We have a Grant Vortex Oil Boiler around 15 years old and it will fire up for around 30 seconds and then switch off. Plenty of oil in the tank. Pressure is fine, know its getting a signal and recently serviced. I have tried the overheat button and the reset button but this is hit and miss. Automatic valves changed recently…

Oil or off peak electricty for domestic hot water?
I normally use off peak electricity to heat my hot water via the immersion heater. Now that electricity is so expensive, I wondered whther I should use my oil boiler to heat the water (I only use that for heating the house).I've tried to calculate this: I've just bought some oil - price is 90.2 pence per litre. Off peak…
