Calor Gas Leaky Cylinders (twice)

We have a pair of 19kg Propane cylinders on an automatic change over serving the cooker.  The change over is also the regulator, so the hoses to the cylinders are high pressure.

We've now had a couple of Calor Gas cylinders where there's been a leak between the cylinder and the hose fitting. Checking the last time it was definitely the cylinder and not the hose fitting, swapping hoses between the two cylinders it was always the "bad" cylinder which leaked whichever of the two hoses was connected.  And the "good" cylinder didn't leak with either hose. Looking at the hose fitting on the tapered part there's a bright ring where it was seated in the cylinder, the hose that had been connected to the bad cylinder that ring had a gap indicating not fitting tight at that point.

First time this happened we only noticed once the cylinder was virtually empty. This second time, for some reason I'd left the cylinder switched off on its own valve, and only switched it on once the regulator wanted to change over. The cylinders last a long time, so although that second one was full when I found it leaky we'd probably had it for over a year and I can't actually remember which supplier it came from.  Not that there would be much chance of any come back given how Calor behave.

Currently the bad cylinder is apparently leak free but to achieve this I ended up putting some gasket cement on the fitting which isn't ideal.  I'm not even completely convinced it's gas tight, but can't hear or smell anything.

Any thoughts? I'm kind of thinking I want to swap suppliers and have nothing more to do with Calor, but maybe that's an over reaction.
