bulk tank LPG price comparison

I am in Wales and use Calor for bulk tank deliveries. I thought I was on a fixed-price contract till end of Sept but they now deny having ever received my signed copy of contract -
so I have no contract.
Their current offer to me is 68p per litre + 5% VAT.
If I don't accept that and sign new contract, then it will go up to 80p/litre + VAT in 2 weeks' time.

1) What are other people paying?

2) Has anyone used the price-comparison site that you can find by searching " switchmylpg " ?

Are they kosher? Looks too good to be true.

  • In general I would say that most sites have a bias towards one firm or another.

The deal will be genuine as no doubt it will be a supplier who you sign up to.

I suggest you post the quote here for analysis.
  • lpgsave - Flogas 53p + vat yesterday

    They haven't sent one yet,
but I found another comparison/supplier switch site, lpg-save (dot) co (dot) uk
that has sent me a quote already.
This one quotes a 2-year contract with Flogas for
52p per litre (+ VAT @ 5%) - Fixed for the full 24 month Supply Agreement term.

    with Tank Rental / Standing Charge: £60 pa / 16.4p per day (+ VAT @ 5%)

This would be subject to me sending all sorts of photos of the tank location and the ID plate on the tank.

It would be worth reading the small print in the contact regarding the fixed price.
I seem to remember some other posts on the MSE Forum about LPG users with "fixed price contracts" who were hit with increases due to wriggle room in the contract over wholesale price movements above a certain %.

do you know roughly where in the contract this wording would be? we signed up for fixed 83 ppl in august but got a letter yesterday advising us its going up to 97 ppl !!! I've had a look at the contract and cant see anything that suggests this wriggle room but am probably missing it

i tried to call calor yesterday but after 1h 38 mins on hold I gave up :(

    Gas4Wales have now quoted me

    Fixed rate contract 2 yrs

    1st year price: 0.65 ( 0.68 incl VAT)

2nd year price variable, but capped at 6p rise maximum

    OR a

Variable rate contract starts at 0.59 (0.62 incl VAT)

Tank rental per annum 60.00 (presumably + VAT)

This is more than the Flogas quote (via the switching site lpg-save , see above) but I feel suspicious of Flogas - they were my supplier a few years ago and i wasn't happy with the prices and (I think) the service.

    What do people think?

Had Flogas last year via lpg-save. Never had an issue. Fill my tank up on auto ...And also come out if i request. never upped price last contract. and new contract states they can only raise by a max 5p after year 1..

    Last contract was 36p lol

Unsure were you are, but last year https://www.northernenergy.co.uk/delivery/ Said they would match Flogas and throw in boiler insurance / service. They sent a rep to my house and knew when my contract ended , so assume the last owners of my property used  them at some point

I have never heard of them. So was reluctant to use.
