Replacement shower pump quote
Our shower pump which was installed 18 months ago has stopped working. Plumber says it needs replacing and has quoted £320 + VAT to replace (I have to supply the pump on top of this). Anyone know if this is reasonable? Seems a lot for what is apparently a couple of hours work?

Cost of plastering
Hi, We're having three bedrooms (two doubles, one box room) replastered in our Birmingham house. It's a 1930's house and while most of the underlying plaster is fairly solid there's some bigger cracks and also some big holes where we've ripped the picture rails out, we're also having electrical work done (new sockets) so…

Damp repairs cost
Just had a damp survey and they have said that for the issue to be fixed we should take off the plaster, let the wall dry and then replaster. How much would something like this cost per room? Rooms are roughly 12 x 12.

Electrical certificate costs
Hi. I have been charged £270 for 3 bed house in Devon. I've had the results back saying it's needs 5 new light fitting because they are stretched and £100 a fee of £120 for admin and certificate. This doesn't make sense as surely the certificate is already included in the original price. Any thoughts? Feel like I've been…

Hi all, So I need a new roof. My roof at the moment is slate however is leaking in multiple areas. I have a small one bedroom house but roof wise is prob of similar size to a 3 bed home. New Kitchen fitting quote
I've received the quote below to replace my existing kitchen. This is for fitting only. The layout and number of units will be similar to the existing kitchen, so no major rerouting of cables or pipes are involved. Probably the biggest extra work is in raising the lowered pine clad ceiling to its original height and…

Is Loss Leader pricing unethical and should it be addressed
We all receive auto-renewal quotes for annual policies such as house/vehicle insurances, mobile phone contracts etc and most of us are aware that, as most companies entice us in with heavily discounted premiums in year one (in effect a Loss Leader), the renewal quote will be much higher than taking out a new policy. As a…
