Bird Inhibitor on power lines

Options
SSE want to charge £925 to install bird inhibitor on power lines that cross our garden. Normally this would not be chargeable but they can’t reach the lines with their usual equipment so need to out up scaffolding. This seems like an unreasonably high price - does anyone have any experience of this and xan advise whether there are alternatives, or if they’ve had any success in negotiating SSE or other electric companies down?

and why do you have to pay? It's their equipment, they should be responsible for maintaining it? or do you want them installed?
