Overcharged by a locksmith- any way to get my money back?

I recently wound up locked out of my bedroom as i'd left the keys in there whilst going to the bathroom and the door swung shut. I called my landlord over but none of his spare keys worked, went to the letting agency but they didn't have any spares either so was forced to call in a locksmith to remove the lock and then subsequently replace it.
For this he has charged me FOUR HUNDRED AND SIX POUNDS (£406), which I have unfortunately already paid him as he said the transaction needed to be done on site and i am a student with very little experience of these sort of things. On top of this he has so far failed to email me the invoice/receipt that he told me I could send to my landlord and get him to cover the cost of. Am I being taken for a ride here, and if so do I have any recourse or way to get my money back? Really not keen on losing such a significant sum of money this early in the term.

You must have known at the time of payment this was a bit of a high price? Don’t think being a student is really an excuse as how many would willing hand over that much money especially at this time of year. Regarding the landlord what does your tenancy agreement say about replacing lost keys? I doubt they will give you £400 back!0

How long did it take him to get entry?
A new lock (perhaps new hardware needed as well) could easily be £50 and I can't imagine it taking more than 20-30 minutes to fix.
Locksmiths seem to be joining treesurgeons in the mysterious world of wild pricing for very little work!0 -
Why should you landlord give you the money back due to your neglect?0

Student house? If it was anything like mine then a swift kick would have opened it and been a lot cheaper. That's for the ones that acutally had individual locks.

No way your LL is going to pay for this! How do you possibly think he is liable?
Depending on the response time, and the time of day/night, £150 might be a reasonable bill.
Of course, when you phoned them, you asked what it might cost?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
