Leaving Company during private health treatment
Hi all, this is my first post in the forum. I am currently undergoing treatment using a major private health insurer which is part of my workplace benefits. I have had the surgery (knee) and will be undertaking physio and follow up consultant appointments for the next few months. The treatment, including physio and follow…

You know those ads on TV for glasses costing as little as £6 a pair? Are they worth it? Has anyone actually purchased any? And how does the process work? TIA

Registering with a GP Surgery.
I had the same GP surgery for nearly 40yrs... then I moved around quite a bit over the past 5yrs and went through a number of (quite poor) surgerys relative to my then postcodes. In 2018 I moved back near the area I grew up, and later was surprised to find that the person who owned my house prior - was registered at the…

Dental and Health Insurance/Plans etc
Hi all, Firstly mods if you feel this needs to be in a different section of the forum please move. I am looking for dental cover. I have recently had to move far away from my previous residence and where I am now it would appear NHS dentists are as rare as hens teeth (no pun intended). No one will accept me and I even have…

Boots the Chemist - watch their pricing!
Just a note about Boots the Chemist pricing strategy. The pricing instore can be significantly higher than buying exactly the same product from them online. I bought a pack of 30 Fybogel drink sachets in-store this week, costing over £11. I queried this with the store staff, and later with customer services, as it usually…

Hypnotherapy
I've suffered with low-self esteem, anxiety, fear of the unknown, insecurity for most of my life, having tried medication, acupuncture, talking therapy, none seem to work, therefore, I'm considering hypnotherapy, new year, new me hopefully. Anyone tried hypnotherapy for the symptoms mentioned above, if so, how successful…

SQUINT IN EYE
Hi Folks I have a squint in my eye from birth. I have terrible problems when I need to look at people whilst talking them or when I go for job interviews and the usual advice is to look the interviewer in the eye when talking. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how did you overcome this? Thank You

Hydrogen Water Alkaliser SPE/PEM type
Has anyone tried one of these SPE/PEM type Hydrogen Alkaline Water generators, if so which one? I like the idea of increasing waters pH without having to add inorganic minerals and would like to try one but don't want to end-up with a pile of Chinese junk that packs-up after six months.

Ingrown toenail vs fungal infection.
Hi all I'm booked to see a podiatry clinic tomorrow. I have been having severe pain in my big toe on my left foot. The pain is mainly on the right side of the nail but is going across on the fleshy bit of the toe. It's mainly red on the skin on lower right corner on the skin. I had this pain last week but then it went away…

Reglazing glasses
I am looking to get a pair of glasses reglazed and just wondered if anyone can recommend a good company for this. There are a few online, but I always feel happier if other people have had a good experience. Many thanks.

Understanding NHS Dental Costs
Hi I moved back to my parents home to look after them during the pandemic. My local dentist wouldn't take me on as a patient as they were not opening their books during the pandemic, I'm likely to be taken on in 2-3 months. I've had 2 crowns fall out during this year one of which I saved the other I think I swallowed, and…

Tooth growing sideways
My child (16) has a really odd tooth, we thought it was a wisdom tooth but now has what seems to be another tooth (presumably the wisdom tooth) growing adjacent to it but hasn't yet erupted from the gum. So, the weird tooth on the bottom hasn't really erupted fully but the top of the gum is smooth tooth and the nobbly but…

Unhappy with new dental crown
I had a crown fitted yesyerday by a private "specialist cosmetic dentist" to cover a 1st molar that had turned grey after a root canal. This cost £650. At the consultation there was no discussion of what type of crown, I just knew it would be porcelain looking to match my other teeth. Now it's fitted I'm so disappointed,…

Boots in-store Points Event question
Is it possible to get stock ordered to Boots and do the transaction in the store to make the most of more favourable points events? Basically, I want to buy some cosmetics that aren’t stocked in my local store, but would like to max out my Advantage Card points since it’ll be a big-ish purchase.

Shoes for Icy Steep Drive?
Hi all We've had a bit of frost recently and our steep drive was treacherous. We put some grit down but it was still ropey in places. Could anyone suggest a shore/boot that might help? I know you can get metal spikes that attach to shoes but I have no idea about how safe or effective they are. Thanks

Cosmetic Dentistry - price differences between practices
Hi All Please could I get some input from anybody who has ever had cosmetic dentistry? Having searched for 'cosmetic dentistry' near me, I found 3 city centre practices, all priced in the same region(ish). I chose one and went for the initial exam. The cost of the work needed is substantially higher than expected though I…
