Dental implants

Options
I went to the dentist today. (I am exempt and an nhs patient). I need to have 4 of my front teeth took out. They want me to be without front teeth for 8 weeks. I don’t know about anyone else but it’s something I really don’t want to do. I have read into dental implants, but I know you can’t get them on the nhs unless it’s exceptional circumstances. So what am I to do? I’ve a panic disorder and it’s really kicking in to point I feel like I’d rather die than be without teeth for 8 weeks. I don’t have very good credit. Pretty poor if I’m honest.
Do dentists do a credit check?
do all dentists do personal care plan monthly costs where they don’t do credit check?

Just I’ve seen dentists “smile in a day” where they insert dental implants and put in a temp smile/ bridge.

Any help would be great and much appreciated x

I’m not a dentist but I’m halfway through having 1 implant.  I think you’re unlikely to get implants on the nhs.  Did you discuss having a temporary plate/denture?  Although again, you’d have to pay for it.  I have a temporary valplast, it cost £245, but at least I can use it when I want to smile.  I think the smile in a day implants don’t tend to be as reliable long term as the ones that are implanted, then left part finished for several weeks to integrate into the bone before the final crown is placed.  Good luck 🤞.

Try asking your dentist if they can do an immediate denture, they are available on the NHS and it means you have teeth out and a denture fitted straight away.

My upper teeth were removed and a denture fitted immediately.
I had been going to have impressions taken in the prior weeks so the denture was fitted straight away.
Have a word with your dentist

Tbh I didn’t dare ask the dentist. She was so uneasy to talk to. I just can’t stand the thought of no teeth at the front. It makes me panic. And Thankyou for the luck. I’m going to need it xx

Hello, see I thought that too but she didn’t give me that option. She just said I’m gonna have no teeth for 2 month for the gums to heal. Xx

I’ve just emailed the dentist to ask if I can get a temp denture. It felt like she couldn’t be arsed to be honest. She said to me. Remove my teeth, then wait until they’re healed, then she will take impressions and then make the dentures. Seems like she’s being lazy. I know I’m getting it free but Jesus, I felt a spare part in that chair…. Im desperately trying to get in somewhere else. I don’t want to go back there xx

Just curious but how are you getting it free.

  • I am on universal credit unfortunately. I can only get simple things done. I can’t get implants. Just wanted to know why I can’t have a temp denture. To save my embarrassment. If you earn under a certain amount you can get money off also
