I’m trying to find a dentist what will do temp dentures but it’s seeming impossible. I paid for work doing not long back but I couldn’t afford it. I was on minimum wage. It’s so hard. But lately I’m in agony and need to get it sorted

Its not actually lazy to leave the gums to heal following an extraction. The gums change RAPIDLY following an extraction and bear little resemblance to the final gum shape immediately following extraction. 

This means even the best fitting immediate denture will be poorly fitting within weeks. Construction of an immediate is also very difficult too as you must do all the impressions with the teeth still there and the lab have to make a guess as to what the gums will look like when the dentures need to go in. It is far from impossible but even leaving for just a month will make the dentures fit better. The dentist usually has to foot the lab bill which is well over £100. So from their perspective and experience they may wish to delay construction until it reaches a stage you may actually be able to wear them. Also the NHS ask stern questions when you replace a denture very quickly.... which happens when people start to complain about the pre warned fit of the immediate denture. For some reason, in my experience people seem to forget these warnings!! The likelihood is the dentist would then be forced to provide a second denture free of charge to both patient and NHS. But there is still a lab fee which the dentist would have to pay for.
