NHS Dental Work

Hiya,
I think I need a root canal, while the NHS website said this would cost £65 I remember discussing the price with my dentist back when she was putting a filling in and she said if the filling didn't work then a root canal would be what she'd have to do. I seem to remember her saying this would be the maximum £280 bill.
Normally this would be fine but throughout lockdown I was at work and my partner was furloughed and has only been back at work this month so the next few months will be tight while we get back on top.
I don't think I can wait a few months but I'm also not sure if we can afford £280 in one go.
Can you pay an NHS dentist over two or three months or do you have to pay the full amount in one go?
Thanks

It would be something to discuss with your dentist.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
