Diabetes medication - can you eat anything?
I'm sure you can't but I don't really know that much about it. I was talking to someone the other day whose husband has type 2 diabetes and she says he can now eat anything he likes as long as he takes his medication. He's a big pie lover and hugely overweight. I've heard other people say the same. I didn't know how to…

Carbohydrates of which sugars
I know we're told to view carbohydrates on nutrition labels as a whole but I've always been curious to the "of which sugars" underneath it. Can someone explain? Example: - A cereal box per 100g has: Carbohydrates - 42.5g of which sugars - 10.5g Does the mean there's 10.5g of sugar in the cereal?

Specsavers - high prices, and is there any real difference between the different varifocal options?
Specsavers used to represent good value. Clear pricing, and good quality sold at fair prices. Things have changed. Despite the clear pricing claims its impossible to find clear prices for the various lens options online, the prices are high, and all the sales staff want to do is extract as much as possible from you. That…

Covid Vaccine Exemptions advice
Hi, I received a letter and leaflet from NHS advising to book appointments for covid vaccines. I read the leaflet and it says those with allergies are exempt from vaccines. I have allergies and remember having a very bad reaction when I took the flu shot vaccine like over 20 years ago and since then I stopped taking flu…

Anyone on here work in an opticians, after some help clearing up a prescription.
First time I’ve ordered prescription glasses online, usually do it through my opticians. Anyway, I’ve ordered a pair of glasses & sent my prescription across. Everything is correct, other than they’ve added +1.75 to my left lens for near/add which isn’t written in my prescription, it’s blank for both eyes. Seems a strange…

Covid lateral tests and symptoms
Not sure if this is the right place but..... Why is it we're not allowed to do a lateral flow test at home if we have Covid symptoms? I feel lousy at the moment and want to know if I have coronavirus but don't want to wait until tomorrow for a PCR test and then wait another day for the results to come through, especially…

Sleep apnoea - do I have it?
GP rang me earlier today about my abnormal blood test of thyroid antibody count. My thyroid TSH is fine. She has given me a questionnaire about sleeping and tiredness as I may have sleep apnoea. I live alone so difficult to know if I stop breathing in the middle of the night, as got nobody to comment about it. I remember a…

Trying out a Dyson air purifier
I've been looking out for some kind of an air purifier solution for some time, and recently I found about the egregiously expensive Dyson variant ( https://www.dyson.co.uk/air-treatment/purifiers/dyson-purifier-hot-cool-formaldehyde/dyson-purifier-hot-cool-formaldehyde-white-gold ). Now, it claims quite a lot of things,…

Aspirin, Paracetamol & Caffeine Tablets
There was a discussion about this in 2017. Situation seems worse as major supermarkets don’t provide an alternative to ‘Anadin Extra’ when in the past they did. No competition for GSK and the monopoly for what is a generic combination of medicine. interested in comments and if anyone can find an alternative brand.

Green Lipped Mussel Supplements
I've been looking on eBay at various suppliers of Green Lipped Mussel tablets/capsules (for my dog!) which are a fraction of the price of what I'm currently paying for yumove. I've always been very wary of the genuineness of meds or supplements bought online, can anyone recommend any particular brand? (I'm not sure if I'm…
