Dentures in water overnight?

Wonder if anyone can help with my query. I had a partial denture fitted yesterday - basic NHS for 1 tooth, but made as small as possible, with metal clasp at one side.
Dentist said to remove it at night and clean it well, but not necessary to store it in water overnight, just in a covered clean container. I queried this as I thought it had to be kept moist but was told not necessary with modern dentures. I've googled, extensively, but everything I read says must be kept in water overnight.
Dentist works part time, so won't be back until Tuesday. Even then, I don't want them to think I doubt their advice!!
Has anyone come across this?

It needn't necessarily be kept underwater, but I advise that it should be kept in an environment where it won't dry out.
So a glass of water is fine, putting it into a small closed container will work too (don't dry it before putting it in) and a little water in there would be ideal, or even folded in a damp flannel would work too.The plastic is designed to be in a wet environment, and whilst the occasional drying out won't hurt it, repeated drying and wetting cycles may reduce its life span. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.1 -
I have not kept my denture in water for years. I keep it in my dressing gown pocket overnight. Sounds like this is inadvisable, but I've not had any problems, as they say! But this is a metal one with the only plastic being the actual teeth (two).0
