100w Light Bulb in 2022.....
From April, a single 100w light running for a year, at price cap electricity costs, would cost you £240. Is it just me that finds this scary?

Insulation - Going from good to very good
Would it be worth it? The EPC report says that the wall and roof rooms are "good" for insulation with the loft insulation being very good Would it be as simple as just adding more insulation and hopefully reducing space heating requirements a tad further, which might also reduce bills further? Thanks

Cautious first time investor looking at Triodos
I want to put my money where my mouth is and use a chunk of it to do something 'good' (e.g supporting sustainable business/organisations/renewables), but I'm a first time investor and a little uncertain about investing directly in 'green' businesses, so I've been thinking about saving or investing through an ethical…

Solar Panel Ownership
Hi Help needed! I bought my property in 2018 with solar panels, I wrongly assumed that ownership would transfer to me once the sale completed. 3 years on the vendor is now stating they still own the panels and I should provide them with meter readings. It was never mentioned by my solicitors when I was going through the…

Solar PV installers for Bath area, recommendations
Hi all, sorry for another recommend an installer thread! Any recommendations for the Bath area, or companies that will travel further afield? Currently have scaffolding up for roof replacement but I'm guessing with the energy crisis most installers will be pretty busy and not able to install at short notice.

What percentage of PV energy is usable?
Trying to get my head around what percentage of PV produced electricity is usable, in the real world. For example, is a 4kWp system produces (say) 3,600 kWh througout the year, if I only used electricty when the sun was shining, and only needed 3,600 kWh all year, the answer would be 100%. The problem is, I would be…

Air source heat pump vs gas heating?
So Electric heating is 100% efficient, which may not be as true for gas given efficiency losses in the pipes https://www.edfenergy.com/heating/advice/electric-vs-gas-heating-whats-best#:~:text=So, is electric or gas,use is turned into heat. Heat pumps I believe typically have a COP of 3. With this in mind, would an ASHP…

Solar PV dump load
Over in another thread: I thought I'd break this out for separate discussion. Possibly a short one. Storage heaters are metal boxes full of bricks. They're heavy and generally need fixing to the wall. New ones are expensive although used ones can be relatively cheap. How much heat do you want to dump? And where/when do you…

When exactly does the 0% VAT on Solar come into effect?
I've just placed an order for solar panels and paid a deposit. It currently has 5% VAT on the bill (£400+). Rishi Sunak announced that the rate would reduce to zero "in April". Does anyone know when exactly in April this will come into effect? And/or does the VAT only become payable when the panels are actually delivered…

Hello all, Back in October 2021 the government announced they would start up a £5k grant to install a heat pump in your house, starting from April 2022. April 2022 is now next week and I can't find any more news about this scheme. I am aware installers are supposed to apply for the scheme but by now surely the government…
