My daughter was offered installation of solar panels some seven years ago by her housing association.Being a single mum with limited income she has-a pay meter for her electricity and no gas in her 100+ year property. My question is was it the correct decision to take up this offer?

Assuming that (like most HA installations) it was done at no cost to her, the answer is a simple "yes".
