Country of origin
I've been trying to figure out the rules on this and all I can find is 'guidelines' for foodstuffs. I find especially Lidl products (where I buy a fair bit of shopping) such as jam, honey etc often doesn't have a Made In .... or Product of .... Although normal branded items have this. I do find this frustrating as I always…

Saving on groceries
Generally how much is a reasonable amount to spend on food per week? We are a family of 3 (me, DH and DD age 21 months). We also have my 2 stepsons one day/night per week. I would say on average I pay £100 per week for food, drink and toiletries (including nappies). Is this high? We don't buy much alcohol (prob 1-2 bottles…

Quick tip for Sainsburys Shoppers
Hey Guys I just wanted to point this out to some people, as I only noticed it recently. If you have a large Sainsburys, chances are you will not just have a meat section, but also a "butchers" counter too. Well, in our local store, the butchers counter pre-wraps some meats, and it is displayed in a similar fashion to the…

Flaw in Morrissons Match and More
My mother has been using a temporary match and more card for the least few weeks. On her last shopping she received a Week 3 voucher on the "Payback Bonus" promotion but did not receive a £ 5 Match and More voucher which I discovered later online she should have had too. This got me thinking. I received my own Match and…

How to boost your nectar points at Sainsbobs without spending more.
If like me the forthcoming Sainsbobs nectar points changes have annoyed or disappointed you somewhat then this may help. Firstly we have several cards in our household and I rotate them as I go shopping. This gives the impression that as a shopper I haven't spent enough for a week or two and the till spits out extra bonus…

Aldi's 'Beluga Caviar'
Hi guys, Did anyone see the article about the Beluga caviar sold at Aldi over the weekend? They had to rename their £9.99 Beluga caviar because it was found to come from a hybrid of the species... The real stuff costs £215 at Fortnum and Masons! Do you think there's any other ways that they might have tricked us or are…

MSE Blog: Cheap n’ cheerful choccie almost as good as top shelf
"Last month’s National Chocolate Week really got us thinking – we work for a website that prides itself on fighting for the consumer, so surely it’s our duty to take the fight to the supermarket chocolate shelves, right?..." Read MSE Zorica and MSE Megan's full blog: Cheap n’ cheerful choccie almost as good as top shelf…

Pasta for soup
Hi, does anybody know where I can get the tiny little pasta shapes to add to soup? The only place I've seen it is in TK Maxx (!) but to be honest the packets looked as though they'd been kicking around since forever. There were all different shapes in the packet, not just miniatures of normal shaped pasta, and I thought it…

They work out at 2p per bag and beat some posh ones costing 15p per bag...honestly, some people have more money than taste. Frozen Cod Fillets
Can anyone recommend a good place to buy frozen cod fillets (like 6 small fillets in a bag sort)? Don't want to try them all as often in the past I've found they have a not fresh taste and are a waste. Quality more important than price really. Thanks.

Mutipacks v Single Buys
Perhaps we should have a sticky where people can post deals where its cheaper to buy single items rather than multi-packs To kick off - Asda was selling 2 tins of Napolina tinned tomatoes for £1.....or a pack of 4 for £3 :rotfl: Needless to say 4 single tins went into my trolley!
