Do you think Marmite has change its texture, compared to say Tescos Marmite which to me seems like the 1990s Marmite that I liked, I brought a 500g Jar of Marmite in 2012 and yes it was summer and hot weather but it was almost like thick soup when I tipped it from side to side in the jar but very sticky when spreading on bread (not toast) some people say

" I think Marmite has changed. It used to be blacker and stickier. Now it is browner and runnier."

I think its true and a pain to spread on bread (not toast)

A quick look on the Tesco web site shows than Marmite contains Vegetable Juice Concentrate, but Tesco yeast extract doesn't.

It doesn't say how much Vegetable Juice Concentrate, but it's bound to lighten it's colour and make it thinner.

Not sure whether you mean a jar of Marmite you happened to buy in Tescos or an own brand equivalent. The real thing should be the same wherever you buy it. Cant say I've noticed a change. I'm using a jar with gold flecks in it at the moment, some sort of special edition.

I prefer vegemite after eating marmite through chilhood - adult, but some time back (well over a year ago) I bought marmite as I coulld not get vegemite at the time, and was quite dissapointed as it tasted different and instead of being dark it was a caramel coloured. I complained to the manufacturer and was given money off coupons (to use on any of their products).
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

I think they seperate the marmite now so the thinner runnier stuff goes in the squeezy bottles and the thicker bit then goes in jars. So I would expect to see the jars a little thicker than the squeezies.

Vegemite is what the Australians have and is, to my mind, ersatz Marmite/yeast extract.

Check mysupermarket for current offers, if there isn't one now there will be at some point if you can wait.
