Sainsbury potato salad safety recall

Options
i received an product recall email today from Sainsburys. Just letting people know in case they bought the product and didn't get the email

"We understand from our records that you have recently purchased either a 'Be Good to Yourself' Potato Salad 300g or a 'by Sainsburys' Potato Salad 180g, 300g, 500g or a 'by Sainsburys' Deli-Style Coleslaw & Potato Salad 500g.
The safety of our customers is extremely important to us and it has been brought to our attention that some of the above products may contain small pieces of metal.
As a precautionary measure we have withdrawn all of the affected products above. We are asking all customers not to consume the products and to return them to their nearest Sainsbury's store, where they will receive a full refund.
No other products are affected by this issue, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. If you have any concerns please call our Careline on 0800 63 62 62."

    Thanks for the heads up.

But what i would like to know is why is there too many of these recall notices where it has been metal or glass in products.

Does make me worry about their factory procedures.

There are not that many recalls when you think of the billions of portions of food being sold every year.

Some times there might not be in any metal in the product. They just can not guarantee it. So best to recall the product than take the gamble.

simply because they are made in factories - which are made of metal, glass and plastic

It only takes a small piece to break and appear in one item before everything gets recalled ( even though the rogue item will almost certainly only be in one or two of the thousands of recalled items )

Earlier this.year, I found a couple of.bits of blue plastic.in a pot of Sainsburys own coleslaw. Same size and similar shape to the shredded cabbage

Dad who worked for the food packaging business where some of his employer's pots were used for coleslaw etc says the blue bits came from the giant sacks of shredded cabbage

It was a alot of the same potatoes from the same batch that were used in the original OP's message.

As I said, do love the checking of our products that are sold to us.:o

But having said that, Sainsburys is getting too expensive for me to buy any of their prepared meals now days so not a problem to me.:D
