Help! Food shop budget
Hi :) I've been in a really lucky position for a long time, with a husband and both of us earning good wages. I'm now divorced and back in a place where I need to budget. I've got 2 boys who live with me most of the time. How do I figure out what an acceptable level of spend on food and groceries is? I've done a budget…

Got shopping delivered from Sainsburys yesterday, a smallish order as I don't buy perishables from them due to short dates problems. Ordered included 8 bottles of wine, on offer, 4 for my daughter and 4 for me. Order arrived, no substitutions I was told, Order looked fine until I came to put shopping away. Only 7 bottles…

Buying in Bulk
Do you do this? What are your tips? Do you wait for a good offer and then stock up by the armful? Do you buy enough for 6 months? A year? Where do you buy from? Amazon? Or is it irrelevant because your chosen brand is sold at a consistent price?

Online comparison
Hey all, this may already exist but can't find on the forum. Does anyone know where I can find somewhere online to check what my shopping would be across the different supermarkets?

New Food Products People May Wish To Check Out
One of my favourite threads here is the good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl thread. One problem though is that when you find something interesting from another supermarket (or source), there's no-where obvious to post it. And just one interesting product may be too trivial to create a whole thread on. Who knows if there's…

Price of Earl Grey tea
We went to a National Trust tearoom yesterday and had a pot of Earl Grey tea for two. Ordinary tea is charged at £1.65 per person (£3.30 for two). Earl Grey is priced at £1.85 (£3.70), 40p more. There were two tea-bags in the pot. I asked why there was such a difference and was told that they buy ordinary tea in bulk at a…

Cost of meat
I've been vegan since the mid 1990s, so am not in touch with the cost of meat. However, they keep having that Lidl add on television, saying that you can buy two filet steaks at M&S for £12. £12!?!?!?!?!? For two steaks? £6 each? I've actually checked on Sainsbury's, and these prices aren't exceptional.…

Aldi Thin & Crispy Fries vs McDonalds Fries
I used to eat at McDonalds a lot, but stopped in the early/mid 1990s for various reasons. One thing I'm curious about: I used to like their chips/fries. Recently I've been oven cooking Aldi 'Thin & Crispy' fries, and as far as my memory holds, these are a very good substitute. However, I'd like to ask if anyone with more…

Nescafe question
I have been buying 200g jars of Nescafe for quite some time at £stretcher. They have different shaped jars, or the lids differ but appear to be the same 'normal/regular'coffee. All have same picture of red mug of black coffee. However, some say Nescafe Classic , some Nescafe Original, some Nescafe Classico. Some have a bit…

lactose free milk at Aldi
I discovered this morning that Aldi have introduced a lactose free milk. £1.15 (compared to the usual £1.35 for the Arla variety). Maybe that is why the Arla one is on special offer at Tesco and Asda! The Aldi one is only semi skimmed thought, and I usually prefer skimmed, so I shall have to come to some sort of decision…
