Moving to new home: can I switch now ?
I just exchanged on a new house and am moving in later this month. I need to arrange transfer of Utilities, but do I have to go with the existing supplier to the property or can I switch now ? I'd rather switch now obviously, but I'm thinking it might be more difficult to switch and takeover a supply at the same time ....…

Fix now OR stick! but it also says: 2) Switch Now! on the green sticker. It then says: 3) If you're on a standard tariff, compare, ditch and switch ASAP It then says: 4) Yet if not fixing - STICK…

Help with social tariff analysis please
Hi everyone, My daughter, after her abusive partner left last year, found they were  £800 behind with the energy bills. She has been paying over the top direct debits to reduce this debt. She's studying to become a teacher, on income support and has two children under five. I've been looking at her energy situation,…

Mis-selling advice wanted
Approximately 8 - 10 months ago we were phoned and informed that if we changed our energy supplier we would save between £200 - £300 per year. I was thinking of changing supplier at that time, and although cynical of fervent promises of price savings, decided to go ahead, even though our supplier at the time offered us one…

I am with Scottish Power on thier online enegry tracker October 2011. I have just visited a few switching sites to see if I can get a better deal in October. Website - costs per diem for household devices
Being a bit/lot of a geek, I was interested in ascertaining approximate cost per use/per day of household appliances when I stumbled across this interesting website (seems to be the right place, given it concerns energy use): I can't post a direct link, but it's called "Confused About Energy", so if you google that plus…

'Green Energy Trust' - Unsolicited Phone Calls
Two days running now I've had calls from a 'Green Energy Trust'. Very cagey and the usual tale about conducting surveys into solar panels and offering enticing Government grants. Pointed out the first caller that my number was registered with the Telephone Preference Service and shouldn't be receiving unsolicited calls.…

Is this about normal and how would people suggest reducing our energy costs
Hi all, I live in a one bed house with my DH and we pay our gas and electric by DD. Our electric is £23 a month and our gas is £58 per month. Is this about average or are we overspending? And any suggestions to help bring this down? We don't use our tumble dryer but we do do most of our cooking on the gas hob. We used to…
