confused about switch advice

looking at the "Is It time to switch?" page - sorry - can't post a link - new user - DANGER - Will Robinson.

it says:

1) Urgent! Fix now OR stick!

but it also says:

2) Switch Now! on the green sticker.

It then says:

3) If you're on a standard tariff, compare, ditch and switch ASAP

It then says:

4) Yet if not fixing - STICK for now.

I'm currently on a standard tarrif and I'm not intending to fix. So.... 1) and 4) say stick BUT 2) and 3) say switch...

Any HELP appreciated.

I am leading my people across the Red Sea.
Follow me to the Promised Land of Milk and Honey,
where electricity is cheap, and gas grows on trees.

Believe that the global recession will bring down energy prices,
and though we wander through the valley of the shadow of huge fixed prices, we shall not want it.

Stay on the lowest variable tariff you can find, until we ride out this price rise.

Well I've switched regularly for years and think I know my way around but I can't make head nor tail of that article.:(

Regardless of whether or not you are interested in fixing the first thing to do is to get a grip and do a comparison. If you are on a "standard tariff" almost certainly you are paying more than you need to. You need the exact name of your current tariff and your annual consumption taken from your bill or by asking your supplier.

Look at the results and decide what to do. As you are asking for "HELP" I would say don't exclude consideration of the benefits of a fix.

Thanks - it's not just me then.

Like you I've been switching for years but have not used this site. I thought I'd take a look at the advice here in case I was missing something this time round - but apparantly not...

Having read quite a few posts here before I posted I was frankly surprised at the amount of clever !!!!!! answers. The reason HELP was in capitals was not because I'm losing my grip - it was to suggest I'd appreciate genuine HELPFUL answers rather than the smarty pants meaningless bo**ox exemplified by the first answer I got.

Wait until EDF announce their increase (last of the big 6), then use a comp site to establish the best variable tariff to switch to. Then switch using a cashback site.
But absolutely anything you do will save you money, as if you are on Standard, then you are on that supplier's most expensive variable tariff-you are literally burning money every day you remain on that.
