N-Power - "fix your energy prices for two winters"

Anyone know of this/considering this?

The advert in the paper says "if you switch to npowers Winter Fix tariff energy prices until 31st March 2013........" you'll get up to £40 off your bill. It's available to existing customers.

I've been with N-Power for some years. I pay my quarterly bills by Direct Debit and get £100 discount per year for doing so.

I also had a letter from them recently saying prices are going to rise - 8.7% for Electricity, 15% for gas.

Funny, the home page of "no free ad for them" says "Fix your prices over two winters" until April 2013.

This is becoming like Argos and Homebase. They sell exactly the same things, at the same price, and even use the same product codes. Near me, there is a Homebase right next to an Argos: why, just in case one them should burn down?

I think THEY have finally given up the pretence that we get any real consumer choice at all. Now they can't even be bothered to come up with a different slogan.

"Hello, number 6. What would you like to drink? Gin, vodka, whisky, looks the same, tastes the same."
  • That's a "no" then :rotfl:

This is a 31% premium above my existing rates, which is catastrophically high.

They are really stretching the imagination to think that anyone would fall for this. Then again it is Npower...:rotfl:

    For those reasons, I'm OUT.;)

So, who is the recommended/cheapest supplier these days? I could search the threads but I have 3 children (blah, blah, blah!) :D

Whenever I've looked into changing suppliers before, it's been so confusing. It's xpence for x kw...... "what's your annual usage", etc.

If I switch...who do I switch to? or does it depend on my annual usage (we're going in a circle here).

Why can they not just give us the ruddy PRICE PER UNIT they charge instead of all these smoke and mirrors.

There is no outright cheapest supplier. All you need to do is take 5 mintues of your time and enter your annual kwh usage figures into a comparison website and you will have your answer.

(Its what they have been made for ;))

because everyone is too fussy and wants different things.

Some people want NSC tariffs some do. Some people want fixed prices some dont. So people want an interent tariff some people want paper bills) you cant please everyone as everyone wants a different thing

And what if you don't have your annual kwh usage figures because of other factors?

If, like me, you have changed suppliers, changed from paying monthly by DD to having quarterly bills, changed from paper bills to on-line, it's a pretty major job to estimate your annual kwh actually.

My N-Power bills say THEY cannot estimate my usage for this year (as they don't have enough history) so how can I?

It should be made easier. One company charges X, another company charges Y. It's really annoying.

Currently with Npower two years and get the £100 pa.
Have just literally changed 10 mins ago to the Online 23 knowing price increase 1 Oct and probably a future increase next year.
In fact the price could go up 23% i will be no worse off purely looking at the second rate price which we use a lot of.

Why i never noticed this before:kisses3:

Its annoying because it does not suit your needs. But having set rates would not suit people either.

Also companies have discounts for dual fuel and direct debit etc, so you would have to calcualte this aswell

Unfortunatley you are in the minority in not being able to get an annual kwh figure, but in normal cirucmstances this would be the easiest way.
