High Income Child Benefit Charge
I've seen a few threads about this and some articles on the net but still very confused. I received a letter from HMRC that am required to pay the High Income Child Benefit Charge and I should have been doing a self assessment? As I hadn't done it, HMRC did it for me and worked that I needed to repay the charge amounting…

Benefit Entitlement
Hello I have recently been made aware of tax free child care. On investigating more it would appear we are not eligible because my wife does not work enough hours and thus earn enough money to be entitled to the help. Does anyone know of any other help we may be entitled to? I have looked via MSE site and the only benefit…

Catholic primary schools and distance
We're looking to move house to be as close as possible to a school of our choice, a Catholic primary school. Their admission, besides faith, is based on siblings and distance. My question is if you're between two faith schools, as we are now, but not that close to either, does one have to accept you, as a Catholic, as…

Money Moral Dilemma: Should I ask my daughter to share her Child Trust Fund with her siblings?
This week's MoneySaver who wants advice asks... I have four children, but only one has a Child Trust Fund - she was the only one born when the Government was offering them with a £250 contribution from the state. Private Arrangement Overpayment
Strap in, it’s a long story! My ex husband & I had a privately agreed child support arrangement when we divorced eight years ago. I did well out of the divorce as he wanted to move to America to live with the lady he left me for. He was set an amount to pay me each month, with an annual review in line with inflation. I…

Trust Fund
It's unfair to expect your eldest daughter to share what was always intended to be hers, and doubtless is still legally as that was the whole point of Child Trust Funds. You haven't mentioned your own finances so I assume there's no reason why you shouldn't allocate a similar sum to each of your other three children to be…

Childcare vouchers and Tax-free childcare
Hi, I know you're not allowed to be in the voucher scheme and get tax-free childcare as well (ridiculous IMHO but that's not the reason for my post!) I have a long-standing voucher scheme with my employer but as I'm just about in the 40% tax bracket I can only put £128 a month into it maximum. We are now in a position…

Changes in children’s living arrangements
My friend currently pays support for his 2 children (12 & 17) who both live with their mother. The eldest will be attending full time college in September and has decided to move in with his dad as it will be easier to get to college from. How will this change his support payments to his ex as I would have thought if they…
