HI
I have two kids, one just turned 18 and finished A levels and the other 20 in October.
I have zero contact with them (her choice) and therefore have NO idea what they are doing or where they are.
I believe I should now be stopping paying CMS (now both out of school), but 'the system' relies on her reporting changes. I'm kept in the dark and just expected to keep paying until she says otherwise.
Is there any way I can check the status of the kids or get CMS to, as both they and CBA are like a closed shop?
I don't mind paying if I have to and have done so (case actually in credit from voluntary payments), but I think she's just keeping her head down and wrongly taking my money for her own benefit.
Anything I can do?

Ahem...thanks for your useless and patronising comment and 'advice'.
Yet...no...maybe you have helped make me realise that my ex was right after all, my fault...again!

What else do you want me to say? Is it my fault you decided not to be in their lives now too?

Speak to CMS and explain you believe they have now left full time education and can they please check your exes entitled to child benefit.

Unless you have any extended family that has stayed in contact you will have to contact the CMS. Your ex's child benefit won't stop for your 18 year old until September if she doesn't stay at college and do another course.

I'd prefer it if you said nothing. You obviously know very little and even less about my situation!
ZaSa, thanks for your constructive reply. Unfortunately, the kids are completely off the 'grid' and it's pretty obvious to me why.
CMS tell me NOTHING and have ZERO interest in following up my enquiries.
    But thanks anyway.

Are you on direct pay or do you pay the cms?

Indeed, but i do know how kids need both parents in their lives, and the court system is there to facilitate that.

Otherwise my reply was accurate, that is literally what you ask them to do.

I'll forward your last comment to my ex, I'm sure she'll agree, see sense and all this will just
pass over without me having to drag the family through court, which is of course, exactly what she wants me to as that would prove, if proof were needed, the sort of nob that I am. Right?
You really do have a very naive and simplistic view of life. How old are you?

Im in my 30s pal. And yes that's what you do, you go to court and you get contact with your kids.

How is that you being a nob? How about it's a loving father, being prevented from having contact and forced to take action?...

Shezzer all you can do is continue to chase the CMS about your enquiry re the children not being in full time education.

I have zero contact with them - AHEM your choice!

    Yes speak to CMS.
That is a completely uncalled for comment.

My friend has no contact with his two sons, not through lack of trying on his part, and it is heartbreaking for him to have no idea where his sons are or what they are doing and he just hopes that when they are 18 they try and contact him. (Oh and he does pay regular maintenance).

Unless you know the details of the family circumstances it's not fair to form an opinion.
