Joint account query.
My wife passed away recently after a long illness. A few days after the funeral, I learned that a close relative had attempted to make herself a partner in a joint account with her. My wife did not leave a will, so what would have been the repercussions for me, as her husband, if the relative had succeeded in her aim?…

Budgeting - Emergency Fund(s)
What are folks thoughts on these? Should you have multiple i.e. one to cover a certain amount of expenses and one to cover unexpected spends? Or should savings be general and not given a "job".

Civica pay hack / data leak council tax card payments.
I suspect Civica pay services for Manchester city council have had a data leak or breach. They were down for over a week at the start of September and at the time when I looked into it, other local authorities using Civica for revenues payments (council tax) were fine. The company did not respond to a queries about it and…

Is there a current account that won't let you go overdrawn?
I am curious as to whether there is a bank that offers a current account that won't allow you to go overdrawn and would simply decline a debit card transaction (in the same way as a credit card if you don't have enough balance) rather than allow you to go overdrawn?

Switching Bank Accounts (Eligibility)
I've seen this offer and thought it too good to miss(Nationwide £200 switch). I've already switched a Natwest bank account to First Direct in the last 5 days and just waiting for the £175 to drop from Nationwide(28 days) on that one. I've also got an old Lloyd's Classic account that I've had for 10 years plus that I've not…

Barclays App compulsory move to paperless to CONTINUE to account information
Interested that Barclays App "loading checking preferences" doesn't ask my preference but forces you to go paperless by pressing CONTINUE to get to your account information. I know I want to stay with paper but I have to go paperless to use the app and then reset to go back to paper. That's not checking my preferences…

Opening multiple current accounts - credit score impact
I've had a single current account with Santander for ~5 years. I recently I opened an Edge current account with them (in addition to my 1|2|3 account) and moved a couple of DD's to it, with the sole purpose of switching it to Nationwide to get the £200 switching bonus. Once I get the money from Nationwide, I'll be looking…

Creating a Nationwide current account just for the Savings account.
Hi all, I'd like to open up a Nationwide Savings account but I don't have a current account with them. I know they offer a nice bonus to switch to them but after googling I'd rather keep my existing (First Direct) account, if possible. I'm not clear whether you can just open up a current account with whatever minimum…

Am I missing something with Halifax Rewards?
So for however long it was, I paid £500 & I got my £5. No problem. I'd been having a feeling something wasn't quite right with my Halifax accounts (I don't keep too close a tab on them) & now I've seen it's not been right for a while. Around 2-3 months ago I noticed that I hadn't received £5 for the month. I took a look &…
