Do they check your bank account for pension credit?
If somebody applies for guarantee pension credit, do they check your bank statements, to see how much savings you have? If so, do you have to post off paper bank statements or can you upload digital ones? Thanks

Late Tax Credit award and cost of Living payments
I was paid my 2023/2024 Tax credit award in a lump sum at the beginning of August. I'm self employed, so it was awarded once I confirmed my income. I was told that I should automatically receive the cost of living payments I am entitled to. Does anyone know if this comes at a later date, or if they could have been missed?…

Mandatory Reconsideration Form Postage ?
Hello all, I had a PIP review a few weeks ago. Oddly enough the assessor said it would be "a few weeks" to hear anything but the DWP made a decision within about two weeks. I was on the lowest rate anyway and now nothing. Question: I am slightly confused on this and I missed the chance to ask at the Post Office today about…

ESA (either New Style or Contribution based) and Airbnb income Scotland
Im considering taking a lump sum out of my pension in order to set my house up as an airbnb. From what Ive read a lump sum should not affect my ESA (I hope Ive understood that correctly). Re-applying for housing benefit at a rental property
Hi everyone, My mother has reached retirement/pension age. She is currently on housing benefit. I hear when she applies for a pension she will lose her housing benefit and have to re-apply for it. She is worried that if she does this, there might be a delay, and then she won't be able to pay the rent for the month. She has…

am I eligible for Universal Credit if my property is in negative equity?
In Sep 2021, I moved out of a property which I own, and moved in with my elderly Mum and Dad to provide 24 hr care to Mum. I live on Carer's Allowance, and some grocery money from my Dad. I was turned down for Universal Credit back in February 2023, because my property was considered an asset (it had cladding issues and no…

Societal implications of transition from tax credits to universal credit
At present, families who are just about managing and are reliant on tax credits to top up their income can feasibly save up for a deposit on a house, with enough time and frugality. But once migrated onto universal credit, they will lose universal credit each time their savings go above £16K, which might make the…

When is the soonest I can claim Universal Credit?
On 14 August my friend's employer, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, terminated his contract of employment on the grounds of lack of competence due to ill health. This was by mutual agreement. He is, at present, in receipt of New Style Employment Support Allowance. He has completed Form ESA 50 and waiting to be assessed. He…

Universal credit savings calculation
I'm hoping someone can clarify something as I've been asked to tell DWP the amount of money I have in current and savings accounts. They've asked me to tell them what amount me and my partner have in our current accounts on a certain date of the month, each month. Now if I do that after just being paid, that's going to…

Anyone have issues with their first payment after migration from Legacy benefits I have been told the amount due for my 1st payment after migrating from tax credits and it’s way less than I was getting. Savings Pension Credit - Change of Circumstances
Hi, I'm trying to get clarity on when a change of circumstances relating to capital amounts (savings etc), needs to be communicated to the DWP as part of an ongoing Savings Pension Credit benefit. I spoke to the DWP who just kept stating I should contact them with a 'Change of Circumstances" as I felt appropriate. I kept…

Salary just gone above 50k should I cancel my child benefits?
I know once you go above 50k the benefit changes but in this tax year I have not hit 50 yet. Will I be ok to carry on the child benefit until I get to 50k on my payslip or should I cancel straight away? Or is it best to carry on. I really can’t be bothered doing self assessment. Thanks in advance. Hopefully this specific…

Child benefit high tax charge
Hi, I've submitted a self assessment tax return as I needed to pay the child benefit High tax charge. It says I need to ensure the money is received by them by end Dec, but I selected to have the repayment taken from my tax next year. Anyone had the same? Were you able to have it taken off tax code or did you have to pay…
