He had a major stroke and a leg amputation and has just come home from hospital after 9 months. My mum and dad have less than £15,000 in savings and live in social…

Does pay in lieu of notice pay NI credits?
Recently made redundant with a pilon of 2 months salary. As far as I've read I pay the same tax and NI on it as I would have as a salary. So does it definitely pay credits to my state pension? Reason being, i was looking at claiming jsa but am entitled to just a few quid so only worth claiming for ni credits. Unless it's…

LCWRA and quoted £850 for a crown.
I bit down on a ruddy olive stone a while ago and have a cracked tooth. On NHS I can get a nice silver crown for nothing but if I want a whitish one then it's £850. Obvs I can't afford that. I asked whether he could take the tooth out and he said he wouldn't advise that because the teeth around it will start collapsing in…

Winter fuel allowance-am I entitled.
Hi, I am over state pension age by about 10 months, and my partner gets child tax credits paid into her bank account for our child. I get almost full state pension no pension credit. My income is always taken into consideration when assessing child tax credit. Just wondering if I am entitled to Winter fuel allowance under…

Local 'rag' misquoting Martin Lewis.
Our local newpaper is claiming that Martin Lewis has stated that people born before WILL be eligible for the Winter Fuel Allowance. A paragraph later they say COULD. These are very different, but I wouldn't really expect them to understand that, after all they are only using our language every day of the week. I've posted…

PIP Review - paper-based assessment
Hello, I am wanting to request a paper-based assessment as nothing has changed in relation to my conditions, I've so far been awarded PIP twice enhanced for both for 5 years each time. I know that it's rare that they give paper-based but I'd like to try and request one anyway. I've drafted the request letter out from me…

Old style ESA migration to UC
My ESA is made up of both income related and contributions based ESA. I am in the support group. I have received a UC migration notice letter. When I claim UC do I then lose the income related ESA but retain the contributions based amount? And do I go straight into the LCWRA group? Thanks

UC migration, do I get backdated?
We are aiming to sign on to UC tomorrow. From what our letter says, we will get no payments for 5 weeks, as the ESA will stop immediately. Only tax credits will continue and they stop in 2 weeks. So we'll miss out on 2 ESA payments, and 3 tax credits. As well as housing benefit and council tax. When UC starts, we will get…

The last credits for the above 2 benefits came into my bank account at the beginning of August. My 18 year old finished college last term. That they have extended my award to November 25 and if no review had taken place by them they may extend it again. Glad to…

Turned down for PIP - mixing with other people.
On my rejection letter PIP say: Mixing with other people (scored out of 8): You can engage with other people unaided. But here's the thing; I can only exchange pleasantries a couple of times really and can't build a relationship with anyone. No one whatsoever. No NoK, no neighbour, nothing. The CAB thought I'd be awarded 8…
