Universal Credit Overpayment

Hi all
We realized late into claiming UC that savings over 6k reduces the amount you get and savings over 16k means you can't claim UC. Once realizing we informed them and then sent over bank statements from the start of our claim. A decision maker then informed us we owe around 3.5k and that we would recieve a letter off debt management dwp. We were told this over the phone.
This was back in March. We haven't received any letter and have since closed our UC account.
I have rang 3 times now UC and Dwp debt management and they have no info regarding this debt. On our journal is shows us uploading all bank statements etc but nothing else. They have said not to worry and according to them we don't owe anything as it stands. It's as if the debt we were told we owe has disappeared. Could've this been passed onto the fraud team, even though I doubt it because we informed them as soon as we realised and have been cooperative. The decision maker seemed fine with all statements and answers we gave when she looked at them.
We are looking to move home and we have the money ready to pay back the overpayment, but can't as there is no paper trail of this.
Does anyone know what could have happened and if this debt will eventually be sorted?
Cheers

Im not 100% sure, but it can take time for the debt department to catch up with debtors. Our TC debt took 10 years to get to us.Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

As mentioned above it can take time for the right department to make contact with you. We had a tax credit overpayment and even though they knew the figure owed it took nearly 2 years to receive a notice to pay. They wouldn’t allow me to pay until I had received the notice to pay.0

Closing your claim - was that because you have over £16,000? Did you do a managed migration?0

We closed it because, both me and partner work. The only reason we claimed UC is because we have a child with a rare genetic condition and get DLA for him. This UC helped towards nursery costs. However for the last 12 months we got minimal amount of UC or nothing at all due to income - my son is primary school age.Spoonie_Turtle said:Closing your claim - was that because you have over £16,000? A couple of months after being told what we owe by our decision maker, UC did not receive income from my wife's work and they over payed us, however we were able to pay that straight back. They then asked going forwards if my wife can submit income evidence every month. Me and my wife then decided to close. Our reason being is that we owe money as it is and it would be a pain having to do that when in reality we got next to UC.0 -
Debt department don't have what we owe on their system. However they did have the UC we were overpaid a couple months after speaking to Decision Maker.peteuk said:Im not 100% sure, but it can take time for the debt department to catch up with debtors. Our TC debt took 10 years to get to us.0 -
Still no update on this. UC and debt management still saying there's no overpayment. Complained online 3 times before Christmas and still nothing.
Anyone had anything like this happen?0
