Hi,
We currently changing over from tax credits to UC.
I now been given a phone call appointment in my journal this week.
It says I have to accept commitments to claim new style esa.
I am currently on contribution based Esa in the support group. Which I have been on for a few years.
What is the new style Esa ?

New Style ESA is the same as contributions based, the only difference is it can't include the Income Related top up like the old CB could.jessmist said:Hi,

When you claim UC the old CB will revert to NsESA automatically and all you need to do is agree to your claimant commitments. The ESA will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement at a rate of £598.86/month. ESA payments will continue at £276.40/fortnight.
Your UC will also include the LCWRA element from the start of your claim.2 -
Thank you for the reply.
I was worried it was going to be totally different

Mine as happened quickly.
I'm transferring from tax credits and I'm due to find out what I'm going to be paid on Monday.
Then today I got a phone call appointment booked for this week regarding the ESA1 -
If you're claiming already your ESA is New Style ESA so you had either Housing Benefit, Tax credits or Disability income guarantee or claimed UC because of a change of circumstances moving etc.marcia_ said:

I only received contributions based ESA, no housing benefit but working (for hubby) and child tax credits. We switched after getting a migration notice.

I would have expected your contributions based ESA to have reverted automatically to New Style ESA but you should have received a letter to confirm this.marcia_ said:

Technically you are on New Style as the regs state that CB ESA will convert to New style ESA on claiming UC.marcia_ said:
