How much does an individual need to earn to get legal aid in criminal cases

If you're being charged with a criminal case how much does your salary need to be to get a defence lawyer?

If it's crown court or magistrates court I heard it differs?   How about just after an initial arrest for say-  rape, manslaughter or murder, surely that's crown court and you'd get legal aid lawyer if you're earning up to £37,000 even with initial interrogation?  Confused as they talk about disposable income with the £37 000

My last two months pay would have been too high to get universal credit but was getting it before.  Still submitting payments. Is it in.your interest financially to drop the job if you think you're going need legal aid?

 Depends if you want to get sanctioned for giving up a job for no good reason?

My understanding of legal aid for criminal cases is that it’s been drastically cut and is not just reliant on income. There are other factors as well which may be taken into account.
