Weekly Flylady Thread 28th September 2020
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

Storing shop purchased onions
I want to buy onions from my supermarket to use through the winter. What would be the best way to keep them for several months, if possible, as this winter I will be trying to go to the shops as infrequently as possible.

Using out of date flour
I have 2 out of date bags of self raising flour, one with a date of October 2017 and the other with May 2019. Both purchased with good intentions of trying my hand at baking for the first time in 30 years. If the bags are insect free, will they still be good to cook with and produce good results. I don't want to use them…

Pork Mince Tacos
I try and make my girls eat something new each week, or something a bit different. I've said I'm going to make pork mince tacos. I have some spice mix left over from the last time I made them as we can't handle too much spice, but I usually use chicken breast or beef mince. Will it taste okay using pork mince? And is there…

Soya shortage..?
Haven't been able to find soya milk for three weeks now at either Tesco or Lidl. Tesco is likewise out of soya mince and I detest the overpriced and over-salted Quorn pap. Anybody see any soya products around?

Deodorant Stains on Tops and Shirts
So I'm getting through a mountain of ironing today and really noticing the armpits on shirts and T shirts (mainly other half and sons) Do a quick google and find lots of useful videos from the US suggesting a combination of hydrogen peroxide spray, dish soap and baking soda. Fantastic, I think I have 2 out of the three…

Slow Cookers and Chicken
Have read some threads and am going to attempt my first overnight slow cooking with a chicken. My question is, does anyone salt or put herbs on the chicken or does that come later. Am using just a splash of water on low heat. Wish me luck.......
