O/S Daily Tuesday 29 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark but dry underfoot.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work also, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken and leek pies, chips, mushy peas and gravy for the menfolk. I had baked fish and veg. Tonight will be using up LO's from the Sunday roast, beef, veg, yorkshires and gravy.
Yesterday work was much busier - there has been a mail out - this always generates lots of enquiries - so I'm expecting a busy day again, although I don't mind that.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLCIt's not fully light yet but seems to be an ok morning. Not a lot to report here, except that restrictions are tightening up further as from tomorrow, as in other places.Surprisingly we are still allowed to travel, so unless we hear different by Thursday morning we'll be off to the lake District. The sites we've been on since it was allowed back in July have been full. They're stringently controlled though..I made leek and potato soup yesterday so we'll have that for lunch, and shepherds pie with veg for tea, rib sticking stuff to keep the cold out.Ds in Oz texted last night to see how we were, having read on the BBC website that the situation here is bad, they've had 860 CV deaths there, compared to thousands everywhere else, but we agreed that density of population must be a factor.I've got some ironing to do, I think it breeds in the basket, and the usual jobs.Hope everyone has a good Tuesday, take care folks12

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, hope you stay busy.
Back to the madhouse this morning but it's cold, dry and still dark so I could just stay in and be cosy! I've washing just finished so I'll put that out in a minute, that'll clear the cobwebs.
Apart from a long walk to the post office yesterday I didn't do anything of note but it was quite nice. Reminded me of the early lockdown days when there was nothing to do!
Hope you are all well, take care. XX12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A foggy start for us but the sun is forecast to break through and then a pleasant day in store. I'll reserve my seat on the lockdown bench whilst the sun is shining if I may. Pleased to hear there is a supply of wine on tap.
I had the most restless night I have had for a while, I was awake more than I was asleep. Now I feel bleurgh! I might get the bus into town when the pass allows it! Just to get out and enjoy a bit of fresh air. I don't really need anything but I am sure one or two bits will leap into my hands as I am browsing our even more limited range of shops.
The freezer was well stocked yesterday after my marathon soup making morning. That lot should keep me going in lunches for a while .My hm ready meal supply is dwindling too so that will be the next marathon cooking session. I still have two or three of the neverending M & S meals to eat yet. I haven't been tempted to buy any more since!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care one and all, try and keep sane and safe. x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Busy day yesterday, I dropped Steve in town to try and sort his phone out and I went to DD2 to do a tip run for her, I then filled the boot of my car with stuff for DD1. Dd2_is currently legally and financially responsible for four houses, the marital home that she moved out of 7 months ago that has just been sold. The forever home she is buying for her and the children, this won't be completed until the summer, the rental house that she first moved into which the landlords wants back as he lost his job in the States due to covid, and the rental house she is moving into!
Moving day today, our week on this joke by is up, we are heading to the marina for a pump out, we may stay a couple of days if we can't find anywhere else. I'm excited at the thought of hot water without having to boil the kettle.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.11 -

Good morning folks. All quiet here still. Yesterday I did a little light shopping and then a lot of reading. Today I'm taking a birthday card and present to a friend of DM's who is 85 years old. The sun is still deciding about its agenda.Happy Tuesday to all.12

Morning all and thank you for starting us off nmlc. We had rain overnight and it is still damp underfoot but the weatherman says should be dry so I'll bung DS's bedding on the line in a minute. OH found me a new washing line for under £2 at a local shop (they were very costly on Amazon and he didnt want go go to Wilko) and I have asked him to put it up so he's gone away to his study pronto. I don't want to use the existing line as it is likely to break again. I thought today was Wednesday although I knew the date, the days are starting to run together for me. My plans for today are so mundane that I'm not going to bore you with them. Yesterday's highlight was a goldfinch walking in the stream, which just shows you how deep it isn't. Today's wildlife so far is a squirrel and bluetits, the robins were everywhere yesterday, I'll go out and look in a bit because they often come out if I do, they want to see if I'm going to dig anything so that they can hunt worms. Hester, a shower lovely. Hope everyone has a good day.
Eta I went out and the robins came to see. I have trained birds.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Morning all
Dry and bright here but rain due tomorrow and for the rest of the week I think, i have a wash on the go as its the last chance to dry outside this week, we did not light the fire last night as it ws very warm we will see what its like tonight.
DD gone off to a meeting this morning and then into the office so I am here with the two dogs which is fine as I dont go anywhere anyway, I will give them a run up to the park this morning and then they will sleep for the afternoon.
I have ordered the bits to make picalilli, my friend made some last year and gave me a jar and it was so much nicer than the shop ones so will wait for the bits to arrive and make it, it wil probably be next week but something to look forward to !!
Rest of the roast beef tonight which was really tasty, I must admit I am very impressed by morrisons meat its all been lovely.
Have goo ddays all xx11 -
Morning all.
AOD that reminds me of my Dad's trained goldfish. At the sound of his feet walking towards the garden pond they all rushed to the surface to see what delicacy he had for them. They didn't show themselves to anyone else. He learned this skill during the war when he was sent to a depot in a large house in the country. He trained the goldfish there using bits of raw pastry dough filched from the kitchens. Whenever I am asked what my father did in the war, I am proud to say that he trained goldfish.
I'm having a day indoors writing today, so I think that the heating may go on at some point. I fight it as long as possible but have no intention of sitting shivering. It doesn't look as if we are going to get any sun today so can't rely on that to warm the house up.
If anything exciting happens I'll be sure to let you know.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
At our age, getting lucky means walking into a room and remembering why.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.11 -
Hello all, the sun is out but it's meant to go downhill from tomorrow. I didn't get much done Barbie wise yesterday, only a top and a little black tube dress ( which can also be worn as a long skirt ) with a black and white gingham belt, then it started to drizzle with rain and I lost the light. My eyesight seems to be getting worse by the month but it didn't help that I was sewing black thread on black material and by hand at the time. So with the sun shining I'll crack on again today but I must get my magnifying glass back from the shed and I may have to look for a new desk spotlight, which has also departed for the shed. BTW while I've got the sewing machine out I will make a start on the lockdown bench cushions. Anyone have a preference on colours ? I fancy Ultramarine blue velvet with gold piping and as my virtual material cupboard is full of all the colours, please take your pick. I'll have to make them wine proof thoughDD text last us night and said there is a case of the virus in her school, in the nursery. Poor dab, hope the child is ok, they are so little. The school was being deep cleaned and only the nursery sent home, DD and her class are ok for now.Tea tonight will be either the last of the curry or a corned beef stew. I need to bake a loaf so that will go nicely with a stew with plenty of gravy for dipping in mmmmmmm ! You can guess where my vote is going ! I may make the stew anyway so it's ready to go at the drop of the hat. I also fancy Bella's pie now !Scarlett I hope you can get one last time away for this year.Hester blimey 4 houses ! Your DD won't know whether she's coming or going.AOD what a good find, £2 for a washing line, I paid £40 for minetaff hope you're feeling better today.Take care all, stay safe and hopefully sober on the bench !!nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11
