O/S Daily Wednesday 30 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, dry underfoot but rain is forecast from today for the coming days - we'll see.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO's beef roast I just made some fresh gravy and cooked some gardens peas - and there was enough of everything else to make up the meal. I remembered to get the pork steaks out to defrost so we'll have those with either potatoes and veg or rice/pasta in a sauce.
Yesterday work was busy - still lots of enquiries coming in and this is likely to be the same today - my last day before my days' off - it's my Saturday to work though so will go in on Saturday morning.
Keep safe and well x

Wet and miserable out. I must have a blocked gutter at the back, I was woken up by water dripping onto the little growhouse. I've been out and moved it but will have to wait until I get home from work to have a proper look. I may need a man with a ladder!
Work yesterday wasn't too bad but some of the staff still don't get the social distancing thing, I'm getting a bit fed up with moving backwards! I stopped off at DDs yesterday as I had got little Sophie a pair of slippers, not sure she'll wear them but the velcro will keep her amused for a while.
Hope the poorlies are feeling better today and everyone enjoys this Wednesday, take care. XX11 -
Morning all couldn't sleep think its the worry of the prime minister speaking tonight just lots playing on my mind . Cup of tea in hand DS and DH have gone to work I am off to the nail bar for a mani and pedi it was £10 off for September so i have taken full advantage and gone twice this month.
Floor washing today and a hoover of the new stair carpet other than that not much happening. We are still waiting for TUI to officially cancel our holiday we are hoping instead to revamp the lounge with the money new flooring and sofas as well as take the fireplace out and some new furniture we had cheap ikea whilst the children were young but now they are older and have left we would like to get some nice pieces . Right enough waffle about what we might do i had better get on and actually do something .
Dinner tonight not sure yet will have a root round in the freezer for something that takes my fancy
Have a great day whatever you are up to xx

Morning all, there's a lovely deep red sky this morning but no rain yet.I woke up at silly o'clock after a weird dream about my late Mum who was being shouted at by a female police officer across a square, whilst I watched out of the window. I have no idea what that was all about but it unsettled me so I got up, had a cup of tea and did a Morries shop for Dad, it's coming Thurs and it's the second big one in 2 weeks. I don't know how he's getting through so much food as he says he doesn't eat much these days, could've fooled me thenAfter spending 2 hrs cutting, hemming and sewing Barbie's cape yesterday I have given up with it as I couldn't get it to drape properly
I shall try again with a different material but it will be a darkish red rather than the green I wanted to use. I think I'll give the sewing a miss today as I have 2 online payments to sort out for Dad, TV licence and council tax and some banking for me. I shall have to wash the kitchen floor too as my Mrs Mop ( Nelski ) still hasn't turned up, she's probably still practising for the next Strictly
NMLC thanks for the start off.Bella enjoy the nail bar session. DD and SIL have used their money back from tui to completely redo the bathroom and the en-suite. Seems to be the popular thing to use the money for household stuff.Camelot sorry about the social distancing or lack of, it's so annoying having to back away for others.Take care all, stay safe and keep wellnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I slept better last night. It made up for my restless one the previous night. We have a glorious sunrise but it's not going to last as heavy rain is forecast. Yesterday was a real bonus, it was beautiful and in the afternoon I had an hour in the sunshine with my book.
Had life been kinder we would today have been celebrating our 48th anniversary. What a wild day that was with my veil taking off on all the photographs! As last year (my first without Bob) my DD suggested we go out for lunch together. She can be so thoughtful and much appreciated. We are only going to the carvery, nowhere special, but it will still be lovely.
So no jobs planned, just a quick flick round with the duster and vac downstairs. And no cooking to do either, so a lazy day. Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) where needed. Take care one and all and stay sane and safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Unfair nanny I was there in the early hours and got it all sparkly while you snoozed
Now where's my fluffy cushion?
Quick question...has your dad had a letter about paying the tv license? Mum hasn't had anything and on the website it said she would. Concerned now they will be after her which would lead to a week long panic attack!
Horrid weather here rainy and very grey
Usual house stuff to do and possibly some bedroom cleaning if I can muster enough energy
Have a good day all
ETA Have a good day TA hope its not too sad for you x14 -
Morning all
Nelski - my mam and dad had a letter a few weeks back about TV licence. I did it online but they got a letter back saying the details were wrong and had to fill a form in instead. Still haven't had a payment taken though. My dad was the crossest he's been about anything for a long time and declared it was against his human rights to charge him as he can't see TV anyways. I did point out that mam can.....
TA - enjoy your lunch and remembering happy times
Hope everyone has a good day12 -
Good morning folks.Outside looks dreary, same as yesterday though that turned into a lovely afternoon.
No more ABs here so I should soon perk back up again.TA - I hope you enjoy your anniversary lunch, fill it with your wonderful memories of beloved Bob.Happy Wednesday to all.13 -

Morning all, the rain has arrived here so I'm going to stay indoors today.
TA I hope you have a lovely lunch with your DD and that you will have great memories to share.
Today is delivery day from Mr M, I am waiting to see what will be substituted or missed out. I know that we will get just one pack of loo roll - I hope that's right and that it is not just one roll as that won't go far. We have been getting a regular 3 weekly delivery since the initial lockdown eased but have not been able to rebook so far. Not a massive issue as we can use the mini market but that is rather more expensive.
I had a text asking me to download the track and trace thing but my phone is quite old and OH says not much point since I rarely see anyone.
Hope today is kind to everyone.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back10
