O/S Daily Thursday 24 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, air much cooler, now starting to rain.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, LO yorkshires, mash, and LO veg. All eaten and no waste. Tonight we'll be having gammon and egg, thinking I may serve with a potato gratin instead of chips - we'll see.
I have a few chores to do, so will go them done.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, enjoy your days off.
It was lovely and clear when I got up but now we have mist and cloud, hope it clears again soon. I'll save the washing for tomorrow when it's supposed to be cold but sunny. Going swimming again has generated more towels than I've been used to!
Gers - hope you're pain free this morning.
MM - how are you getting on?
Last day of the week for me, we have September Weekend here so Friday and Monday off, should give me time to go up to the allotment and clear most of the leeks, the tomatoes have finished too so they can all go. I'm still hoping the rest of the tomatoes here ripen but as they are outside it's getting more unlikely.
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX11 -
Good morning folks. After a really rough day yesterday today I feel much better. Now there's just discomfort rather than pain, I assume that's down to the swelling. I slept for most of the day.In the evening the lovely neighbours came to hang the huge curtains. First they had to work out how to attach the linings, seems it's one hook into both layers but put in upside down to normal. Between them it worked. I stayed out of the way! DM is as pleased as Punch and I'm very relieved.Today is cleaner day. I'm not sure if I'm going out or not. There isn't anything to do which can't wait until Saturday ( at a push ) so I'll wait to see how I feel. ABs make me feel rotten whilst working their magic.I hope that everyone is doing well. Happy Thursday to all.11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for the start to our daily. There was a glorious glowing sunrise when I opened the bedroom curtains. By the time I got downstairs and opened the blinds it had gone! And looking at the forecast we are going to have another wet day. The washing won't be getting pegged out!
So it's another day back on the hamster wheel for me. Same old same old. Though yesterday I did force myself into town on the bus. I didn't need a anything other than the need to just get out for an hour or so. I came home with one or two bits spotted here and there. As far as I could see, in the few little stores I went in, the shelves were all well stocked so maybe the scaremongering about panic buying starting again was wrong. But I did pick up a couple more tins of plum tomatoes to add to my stocks "just in case" as I go through a lot of them making soups etc. And a few more sachets of Sparkle's now favourite cat food to stock up her cupboard!
As I have nothing better to do I may make a head start on the Friday Tidy and do the kitchen and bathroom. Then just the dusting and vaccing left for tomorrow. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. TOPSY nice to hear from you. I keep wondering how things are for you. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning all.
Glad you got out yesterday TA. The change of scene probably did you good.
I'm off out in about 5 minutes as my friend has an appointment in the town and has promised me a visit to Asda on the way back. I don't need anything but you never know what might be on offer and tempting.
Pretty chilly here today, I will have to look out a warm cardi to wear.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Morning all
Sunny here but very chilly and rain due for most of the day it will be a quick dash round the park with the ball throwers later and two soggy but happy dogs after
Tonight we have liver and bacon with onions mash and peas and carrots real comfort food and one of my favourites OH will have sausages with his as some need using but Im not keen on sausages.
Housework and dinner prep this morning while dd is at an appointment and then out with dogs and then a nap on the sofa, I am finding I am having to have a lay down in the afternoons as I am just so tired and most afternoons I fall asleep I have been feeling guilty about this as I feel I should be doing things but I need to remind myself that I am not well and having read up about cancer fatigue yesterday I am being a bit more gentle with myself and sleeping when I need to.
I had my 2nd morrisons delivery yesterday it was all present and correct but when placing the order such a lot of stuff was out of stock and the delivery man said its all gone a bit mad !! I have ordered an extra lot of loo roll in case my mum needs any.
Topsy lovely to see you and glad things have calmed down a bit xx
MM hope you are ok xx
Gers glad you are feeling a bit better today xx
Have good days all xx10 -
Morning all! It's sunny! But very cold and windy...I may make a start on cutting out the posts for the wood to fit in. I may not. Depends if it stays dry. Who knew it could be this blummin cold? I suppose it is nearly October though...Well, the freezer sort did happen. I unearthed some surprises along with five packets of sausages. I knew there were at least two in there and to be fair, they are all different types, Italian, herb, caramelised onion [OHs favourite] etc so a big fry up is going to happen at some point this week. I also unearthed a partridge stew. A friend I used to work with, her OH shot them and cleaned them and they were supposed to be for my father but he didn't want them and I didn't want to throw them away. Unfortunately, when I made it, it was the time when we found the baby pigeon and took it to a rescue and I think we felt guilty about eating one of its compatriots so in the freezer it went. We ate it last night and it was nice although the carrots had gone a bit soggy. There are now 12 bags of flour in the little chest freezer, 6 of plain, six of bread, so I can stop fretting about what my mother would have called 'beggies' in there, her word for small insects...And OH went round a friends last night, I gave him a lift so dropped off a bag of the bread flour for a friend, she said her son really loved that flour and they were going to by some more so in the meantime, she can use that, and dropped off the tassimo pods to a local recycling place. I felt extrememly virtuous yesterday.Today, we will see. I did a lot of googling roof coverings yesterday too and I found that an adjustable angle joist hanger exists, so I have to order some of those along with some galvanised nails. There is a local roofing place with good reviews not far from me so I'll give that a look later on to see what kind of price they want for some sheets of whatever the cheapest stuff they have is [not the seethrough corrugated stuff, I want the thing to give shade in the summer too].Camelot, I'm waiting for some to ripen too but I think I'll just have t bite the bullet and take them off. Gers, that was nice of your neighbours. And just relax and let your face heal a bit...Ruby, yes, it's surprising when it happens because you bowl along at a hundred miles an hour then you realise you need to stop halfway up the stairs to rest. Tiring yourself out is even worse, so really, take it easy! You're not slacking by slowing down...Topsy, good to hear from you...snoozer, hope you the jabs sorted....Hey all readers along, batten down the hatches for a tumultuous ThursdayNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi10

TAFF - have to say that good neighbours are angels in everyday clothing- thinnking of John Travolta as 'Michael'. The chap is very tall and very handy and she is very short and very handy too!Cleaner been and gone and I'm enjoying my first hot drink since Tuesday morning. RUBY - I'm tired out just reading about what you and others are doing with your day.11

Afternoon all,
Have just lost a long post and am almost out of battery, so will just say thank you for all the good wishes.......yesterday wasn't my best day as I had cut out all my pain killers too soon, then had to go back on them again.....I feel much better today, having had a great sleep.
Ruby......take it easy, you need your rest, an afternoon nap is a great restorative.
Gers......glad to hear that your curtains are up.
We still have reasonable weather, some rain and it's colder than it has been.
Much love to all, please stay safe.
