O/S Daily Friday 25 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, raining steadily, air is cool and there's lots of laying water - looks like it's set in for the day. Feels like summer has left us and we're heading into winter.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg and potato gratin - was delicious and enjoying by us all. Tonight will be something quick and chips.
Yesterday I got a few chores done and have some things to do today still, but I'll be heading to the SM first thing to get that job done and out of the way.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning folks. This morning I’m got an appointment for a chest X-ray as a follow up from my collapsed lung. It’s nice and early and shouldn’t take very long. Then I’ve got a few jobs to do as I didn’t go out yesterday. My jaw is still tender and swollen though it’s starting to get better.I suspect it’s much colder outside today, time for a wee vest. 😀
Now I’m off to shower. Happy Friday to all.11 -
Morning all Chilly night here and looks like it will be the same wet and cold again today . Dog has been walked just waiting for DS to get home . I am off to mums to drop the 4 bags of sand for her block paving clean in her garage and pick up the forms for a new doctor she is going to move to our GP her one said some truly awful things to her regarding her decision to not have treatment . Overnight i have had an email from the airline we were travelling to Mauritius with cancelling our flights so i will be on the phone to my travel lady later to see what i can sort both my girls had arranged to take holiday to stay with mum 1 week each while we were away so that we could go as its a treat for our 30th anniversary we can't move the holiday as we have already booked and paid for next years holidays we start planning early and DH won't have anymore holiday. I can see a wet weekend in Blackpool as the alternative still a change of scenery would be good . Right enough moaning from me we are all well have a roof over our heads and plenty of food and loo roll .
Today i will try to get the washing done and the beds changed . Dinner tonight fish and chips with peas
Hugs to all those with worries and those looking after poorlies x Have a good day xxSlava Ukraini12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. And grrr I have just waffled on as I do about life on the hamster wheel and it wouldn't post. I pressed post comment and It kept popping up you do not have permission to do that! So am trying again with a little post to see if it has cleared. x
Edit - How odd it seems I had permission to send this one! Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Fffffreezing here, the stoves gone out and there is no point delighting it as we are helping friend through to the Thames today, Steve's helping with the locks, I'm doing the bridges.
Beano's been walked and I'm about to make us a bacon sandwich each.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.14 -
Morning All
Lie in this morning as I'm off today. I can't think of a time that I looked forward to a few days off so much, work has been quite stressful!
It's lovely and sunny this morning but there's a hard frost. The ice on the windscreen will have to be scraped before I go for a swim. At least the cold makes the water seem warmer!
Housework done and dusted last night and had lovely chats with both DSs, DD and family are away for a few days and are due back today.
After my swim this morning I'm off to the allotment, it'll be nice to spend a couple of hours there in the sunshine but as Gers said, it's time to get the vest out!
Have a happy Friday, take care. XX11 -
Internet ate my post again.
A bright morning after lots of rain yesterday but it is cold, the heating has come on automatically and my feet are thawing out now.
Paperwork to do, then the rest of the day is my own - within limits due to local lockdown. No fraternising! Unless in an already established bubble, no visiting or visitors. Might prune the buddleia, horrible sprawling thing but the bees love itI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back11 -
Morning
Looks fabulous outside blue sky and sunny but grief its cold. Where did this week go? Friday already.
Lovely neighbour put the recycling bins out this morning which I'm grateful for as I have stuffed it full this week with all the garage decluttering. There must be 50 jars I was saving for the day I became Mrs Beeton and made copious quantities of jams and chutneys. That will be cringe able when it hits the back of the lorry ...honestly its not wine bottlesMind you my other not so nice neighbour fills 2 bins and they are wine bottles!
Managed to sell the turntable last night so fingers crossed they turn up as promised today. I don't think Im cut out for hard nut facebook selling though I ended the night feeling guilty for all the people who wanted it but missed out ...one lady got into a long text exchange about her job as a nurse on a covid ward. Part of me hopes the other guy lets me down and I can let her have it....see what I mean about not being cut out for thisAnyway whatever its sold and out of the garage so all is good.
Good to hear your area is not hit by the supermarket shortages TA its very different here lots out of stock and shelves empty again. Guess its a combination of our lockdown starting and all the national media whipping up the panic. Need to sort tomorrows delivery later which could be interesting again but at the worse case I have pasta and flour in and enough loo rolls just need some eggs now. On a positive Asda are running their 25% off wine so may have to indulge
Carbonara tonight (minus the egg!) with some garlic bread
Have a lovely day all

Sunny but cool out there this morning, I will take the dog to the park later, after the blokes have been to do the lawn. I have started an autumn version of spring cleaning, doing a room a day. Today it's the turn of my bedroom, so cue fresh clean bedlinen and tidy up my drawers (Oo-er, missus!)
Nice luxury pizza from Lidl for lunch, with salad and whatever I can rustle up for dessert. Singing practice this afternoon. One life - your life - live it!12 -
Morning, thanks Nmlc - a lovely bright day but breezy and cold.Woody woodpigeon is sat on the back fence puffing up his feathers. Yesterday i was quite busy sorting my summer to winter clothes changeover, am wearing long sleeves today! My veg box and meat pack were delivered too, I made some celeriac mash to go with our tea & soup for todays lunch. My friend rang yesterday afternoon, glad she was paying for the call. We can waffle on for ages about pretty much nothing.Anyway must take out the pooch so I'll love you and leave you, & hope you are all doing ok xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all
Cold damp and overcast here and rain due later on, I have a wash on the go but it will have to go in the td today. Will clean the kitchen and lounge today and then get the dogs out for a good walk, dd has a meeting this morning so we will go after that.
Dinner tonight will be a chicken and chorizio tray bake thing so I shall get that ready this morning and just put it in the oven about five ish. I will need to pop to the shop for a crusty loaf to go with it.
I might light the fire for this afternoons nap it does make the room very cosy and the dogs love it too.
I cleaned the boot cupboard out yesterday so thats a job off the list I still have one wardrobe to go through, but might leave that excitement till next week
Have good days all xx11
