Not sure about a good day RR
. I woke up this morning convinced that it was Saturday and had my day all planned out in my mind. Thank goodness I have one of those clocks that not only tell you the time, but also the temperature, phase of the moon, date and DAY.
Nelski, you can't be a worse saleswoman than me. I feel frightfully embarrassed at asking for money and would much rather give things away. Unlike DS2 who, during one of my moves, took a load of stuff to a car boot sale for me. He not only sold every last thing on the table, but also the trainers he was wearing. Apparently he had a hard job keeping hold of his leather jacket. A born salesman, that one.
As it is only Friday, tomorrow is weigh-in day on the Weight Loss thread, so lunch today had better be cottage cheese and salad. I must rack the heating up and make believe it's still summer.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
You know you are an introvert when you get excited about cancelled plans.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.10 -
Hello all, glad it's not just me having trouble posting, I had to sign in again too ! Don't know what happened yesterday either, thought I'd posted but no it seems not, I've had a stressful week so that's my excuse. After going from pillar to post on Wed the diagnosis is that Mr Fix It has an infection which is messing with his diabetes, so he's on strong antibiotics. Also Our 'vanning friends rang us to tell us that the lady has the covid virus, she sounds dreadful and they think she caught it when on holiday in Cornwall a couple of weeks ago. Irony is that she was afraid to go in the first place ( she's had breast cancer) but was persuaded by her OH.Today I will put a load in the wm but I'm waiting until Mr Fix it has finished in the bathroom so that I can wash his towels too. It's sunny but there is a cold wind a'blowin and I'll have to resort to my autumn collection of clothes......... Oh all right, I'll put a cardi on
I need to do some shopping today so I'll have to visit my upstairs shop ( store cupboard ). The best thing about it is there are no queues or tills and social distancing is no problem
Later I need to go through the toy section in the spare bedroom as DGS is "far too old to play with toys" but I'll keep some just in case, I'm positive we don't need several armies of soldiers though. I'll send them to the cs and perhaps some other family will enjoy stepping on them and find them hidden under their sofa !
Right I'll stop waffling and collect the washing up.Take care, stay safe and keep sane whilst in lockdown.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Mid-morning all! Went to the roofing place and they really do deserve the positive reviews they've had, the guy who served me took his time, didn't rush me, was incredibly helpful and didn't laugh at any mistakes I made, so the upshot is, roof sheets will arrive next friday so we have a week to put the thing together and lay the patio bit. I didn't cut the wood, about ten mintues after I finished typing yesterday it absolutely hammered down. And did that for a while, so I'm not being fooled by mr sun again today...I also dragged OH out yesterday evening to a Walmart, he is now supplied with new jeans and underwear so he is now Unholey Pantsman....I think he's now cottoned on to the fact that pants are not just for Christmas..Shelves were mostly stocked although I did go past the loo roll aisle and there wasn't a packet to be seen. I'm good with the preps, the only thing we need now for winter is some wood to burn, I'll sort that out next week or the week after. The chimney has been swept and I already filled a bin with kindling. And at some point in the next few weeks I'll be sorting out the warm clothes and getting them ready to give to a homeless charity. I have enough scarves to dance the dance of seven veils, but obviously, in a very thick jumper and thermal underwear, so I can stand to give some away.Today I'm making some soup with prizes as we used to call it, basically, veg soup with bits of beef. I took out the beef bones I had in the freezer and roasted and boiled them to make some stock yesterday. The fat has gone in a tub for roasties this morning and the stock is awaiting bendy veg and prizes...oops, just got distracted and went off for an hour forgot I hadn't pressed send...Gers, good to hear your mouth is healing. Nelski, I've become inured to the begging stories now, after years of moderating a freecycle group, I've just about heard it all now..Hester, bacon sarnies! oo! And stay safe! Nanny, good news then for Mr Fixit? that it can be sorted I mean.. Hey all readers along, hope you're wrapped up warm for the unexpected return of the big Chill..Ferocious wind Friday it seems...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9

Hi everyone
It started out wet and cold today but the sun is out now so Steve has taken the dogs out for their walk. I was not best pleased this morning when I came down in the dark and stepped through a present from one of the dogs of a puddle of wee. I was very relieved though to put the light on and see it was only wee if you know what I mean.
Taff, I make a similar dish called ring the bell stew as in you should be very happy if you found a piece of beef
I find it very difficult to ask for money too so I tend to give most of my stuff away. My sisters try and pay for anything I have knitted for them though and hide the money so I find it when they have gone home
I have had a busy morning with my mum and 2 of my sisters coming for a visit. It was so lovely to see them and boy can we talk! My other sister is arriving tomorrow for a flying visit as her area in Wales is being monitored this weekend to see if it will go into lockdown.
We have the grandchildren staying for dinner and a sleepover tonight and they have asked for sausages so that will be a nice easy meal.
I am going back to carry on knitting my fairy so I hope you all have a lovely day, take care xx
