Shameful stash
I’ve just dug out 21 pairs of tights and 6 pairs of pop socks from the laundry basket... worn once and chucked in there. All washed now... I won’t be opening a new pack for a while Anyone else want to confess? Or is it just me?

Bread maker turning out lopsided loaves
I have a Panasonic breadmaker. Recently loaves having been emerging very lopsided. It sounds OK when in action - like it is mixing the dough - is it possible that it is only heating one side of the loaf or the motor is somehow defective. I have looked it up on the Panasonic guide and that says it is usually due to low…

Just been having a go at doing a stir fry. My sister in law bought me the ingredients to try, it does taste nice and is quick to do. What kind of things do you put in stir fries and do you do them often?

Weekly Flylady Thread 29th January 2018
:rotfl:What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We…

Cleaning an old oil painting
I've got an old oil painting that is dirty/dusty from years of being in a room that had a wood fire. It isn't really worth anything money wise but has sentimental value. Does anyone know how to clean it up without damaging it by any chance, is there a product that could do this? I can't really afford to have it cleaned…

Keeping frozen food frozen
My fridge freezer finally conked out last night and I cannot get a new one delivered until sometime on Tuesday. The freezer part is still working thankfully as I'd just restocked after Christmas. My problem is how do I keep food frozen from early Tuesday until I can put it all back in the new one? I have a small lobby…

Saveloy review
Before you read this...yes, I know, I am a bit looney tunes. I got to tell someone, so I'll put it here, maybe someone -like me- will search online and find this one day. Saveloy is a type of highly seasoned sausage, usually bright red, normally boiled. Saveloys are precooked so can be eaten hot or cold. I tried…

Paying by debit card
Can I just ask, for those of you who pay via debit card and not cash, how do you keep track of what's going out of your bank account when lots of different transactions are showing on your statement. I have just started paying contactless for almost everything and its so much easier but I am finding it harder to keep a…

Zero Waste Lifestyle
Hi! I thought this board would be the perfect place for a zero waste thread. Since there's been so much in the news lately about how plastics are taking over the oceans, I've been inspired to try and cut down on waste, particularly plastic. It would be great to see if there are others in this forum too! So far I've *…
