O/S Daily Monday 29th January 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark, mild but very blustery.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.

Lunch yesterday was roast chicken with HM egg and veg fried rice and pasta in a creamy sauce. Dinner tonight will be smoked sausage and mushroom pasta with a breaded chicken portion for the menfolk.

Yesterday we visited mum and dad in the morning as my bro and SIL were over so good to see them even though just briefly.

We just had a lazy day after that, I got the pack ups etc done. DS1 went out to a chinese buffet restaurant for some dinner last night, was very impressed with the food but said the drinks were really expensive. This very often seems to be the case.

Back to work today, we'll see how many people are still are off sick or how many more now have the lurgy. I'm working this Saturday.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off nmlc

I’ve got a hospital appointment this morning that I had forgotten about. It is lucky that my friend who is coming with me phoned yesterday to confirm the time we were leaving. This particular consultant always seems to run on time which is really good.

We should be out in time to go to a pub near the hospital that does a cheap lunch deal on Mondays and Tuesdays. For the money it is ok and it will save cooking.

On the way back, if I’ve got any energy left I will call into a couple of shops in town. I need to find a birthday present for someone who I always have difficulty finding something for.

Hugs to those who are poorly or caring for someone who is and those with troubles/worries.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

Morning folks and thanks NMLC from a very soggy NW. Rain lashing against the kitchen window when I was making my coffee, but at least it's mild! Small mercies and all that!

Hallelujah it was the Grand Finale of the panto last night, after commandeering all our lives for the last 6 weeks! We have found the minding/running around much more tiring than last year but that's probably 'cos DD has been chaperoning this time too.

Anyway, just the DGDs to take to school this morning (DD on early shift) and then the week is ours!!! No sleepovers/minding/school runs now till they resume next week. I now have no excuse for not catching up on all the jobs that have been neglected throughout my virus and extra childminding. Today I have promised myself I will clean all the windows inside before we can't see out of them! Window cleaner came last week and we couldn't tell any difference!

I want to re-stock the freezer with meals too as stocks are low. So batch cooking is earmarked for one day. I made a start by leaving a big batch of Lentil & Bacon soup in the slow cooker o/night and it smells yummy this morning. That'll freeze in a good number of portions.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, carers, sad, worried and lonely in our happy little band of O/Sers. DUMPLING fingers crossed BECKY manages ok at school today. Take care all xx

:eek::eek:Thanks for starting us off nmlc & I hope not too many people are still suffering from the lurgy. HH, I hope the hospital visit goes well.

    Plans for today:-

Post Office to send parcels to DSis in France, then on to cs to deliver 3 bags of stuff I decluttered over the weekend. Lots of Baking:eek: and some cooking.
If I'm feeling energetic I might finally clean the ovens & Kondo cleaning products (on my list since JAN 1st).

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning Everyone

Rough night all round here, the wind and rain were lashing the windows and I felt really poorly, sore stomach and no sleep until about 2am, must have been that cheap chinese!

Anyway, apart from feeling tired I'm up to get ready for work, decided to give swimming a miss today. Washing up to date and the house is reasonably clean and tidy.

Had a good day with DD in Glasgow, bought a few bits and bobs - I now have enough underwear to last the week!

Hope the poorlies are on the mend, TA how about a rest day?

    Happy Monday, take care. XX

    Morning all.

Wind seems to blown itself out overnight. In the evening it got really fierce for a while.

Out early for work, two hours with students and then I’ll stay back to do some paperwork there.

I hope everyone is doing well or getting better.

    Happy Monday.

    Morning all

Very cold here this morning I have put the heating on for a while, off to work today the weekends seem to go in the blink of an eye, although we have had a buy weekend .

OH got the drawers converted in the kitchen and went shopping while I finished painting the skirting and did the last few decorating bits and then I had a clean through the house, by the time we had done that it was mid afternoon.

Not sure about dinner tonight but we have plenty in there is some chicken so may do fajitas.

Camelot I wont eat in those cheap Chinese places after spending a weekend throwing up after eating in one, it put me right off, hope you feel better soon xx

Topsy what work is it you are doing ? xx

    Have good days al xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Well today is the day that Becky goes back to school. She came for a big cuddle last night as she was feeling very nervous about it. I really really hope it goes well as it is a massive step on her way to recovery.

Steve has already left for work and Phoebe and Lilly are rushing around getting ready for school/college. I am washed and dressed and ready for whatever the day will throw at me. Our washing machine died last night so I will be ringing around repair places to see if anyone can come out and look at it. It is so annoying as it is only a couple of years old but it does get used nearly every day.

I am going to make a beef and vegetable lasagne for dinner tonight and also prep a beef stew for the day after. I've found a 'happy music' playlist on Amazon music so will be singing along to that whilst chopping up all the veg. Other jobs include cleaning the loos and mopping the floor as it looked rather grim this morning.

Right, I am off to unload the dishwasher ready to reload it with the dishes that got left yesterday.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Good morning all

Thank you for starting us off nmlc

Very mild yesterday so we had a short walk. Makes you feel so much better when you see the sun.

Not sure what today will bring. Should be doing housework but would prefer to get into the garden if the weather allows.

Hope you all have a good day

    Morning Everyone,

Thanks for starting us off NMLC.

Very windy here, but no rain yet. Mild though so no heating on.

I am just about to go and put tea on using the SC. These are brilliant and so time saving, once that is done I will empty the bins ready for tomorrow.

Next chore will be to contact a few places regarding my mom bills. One place in particular I hate contacting, they certainly do not have customer loyalty , hopefully will sort this today and never have to contact them again.

Then snack and drink time and work.

    After work some cleaning .

I am looking forward to tonight's episode of 'Next of Kin'

Have a good day all x

Good morning, the wind is howling here. Rain is forecast but either it is holding back for a bigger splash or tge forecast is wrong.

Dumpling I hope the first day back is manageable for Becky.

This is the first week of my new work pattern - I am working Tues Weds and Thurs each week, apart from the odd week when I have to fit my days around other things. It feels quite strange not going to work on a Monday. Quite like holiday! I do not plan to use it on cleaning either.

Hoping that everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
