This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's very chilly here this morning as the back door is open to let Max do his usual run round the garden on hedgehog patrol. Steve and the girls are all fast asleep and we don't have anything planned for today so I hope they all have a good lie in.

It has all been very much up and down here over the past few days. Becky had a spectacular melt down on Friday so we thought it best she didn't go and stay with my sister on the weekend as originally planned. I am a bit disappointed as well as I was looking forward to the break too. Never mind, she seems to be a little bit more settled now, just got to get her ready for school on Monday.

Steve is in charge of cooking today and we have a lovely leg of pork for lunch. I wish my teeth were up to eating the crackling as that used to be my favourite bit. Oh well, Max gets the benefit now and he is very happy about it :). I caught up with the washing yesterday but it needs to be put away so that will be my job for later on.

Hope you have a good break away nannywindow, are you staying in the UK or looking for some sunshine? Anyway, enjoy your time away and I look forward to reading your posts when you return xx

Sorry to read about the break in FBO, what a rotten thing to do but I am very glad the dog was ok xx

My mind has gone a bit blank now so sending you all a load of hugs. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning DUMPLING and all to follow. I'm sorry it wasn't better news re Becky and I hope school goes as well as it can for her. Such a worry for you. Not looked at the forecast yet but it feels very mild this morning.

The DGDs are all still fast asleep so I could have stayed in bed myself but once again the early wakening bug struck. As I couldn't get to sleep last night either I feel deprived of sleep at both ends. Too many thoughts and worries crowding in as usual. Maybe a nap this afternoon when the girls have gone home.

The youngest is going to a roller skating party for a school friend late morning miles away but fortunately her dad and partner are coming to transport her there and back.

I survived the function yesterday that I was dreading going to, but I felt uncomfortable the whole afternoon and was glad when we left. The me-me kept her distance thank goodness, maybe still sulking about my attitude towards her last time!

I left a smallish gammon joint out defrosting for lunch and am undecided whether to do it with mash and veg or stick with the girls' preference of egg and chips! Oh go on then I'll do the latter it will be easier the way I feel!

Have a lovely breakaway NAN wherever you end up. JUDI I hope DS's results are nothing to worry about. FBO that is such tragic news about the break in during the funeral. It's not the first time I have heard of that happening. Have a good day all if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, carers, sad, worried or lonely amongst us. Take care xx

    Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off dumpling.

I was so sorry to hear about Becky dumpling, is there some support available to you from the crisis team or the CMHT? I hope that she is a bit better now. I hope that you are ok and taking care you yourself.

Yesterday morning a neighbour came around to tell me that about 3.00am in the morning she had been up and a man had come down the side of my property and tried to get in through the side gate. When he found that locked he went down to our car park and tried a couple of cars, then went over the large houses over the road, and at that point she went back to bed, but thought that she should let me know this morning! Why on earth she didn’t phone the police I will never know.

I want to try and sort out my clothes this morning. I was looking for something in my wardrobe yesterday and realised that I have got quite a few things in there that I haven’t worn for two or more years so I think I need to dispose of those. I did also find a dress I had been looking for the wear a couple of weeks ago, so that was good.

I will do a bit of dusting, vacuum through and wash the kitchen floor at some point today but other than that I don’t have any real plans, although I think my brother may call over at some point for a coffee and to collect a parcel for my niece I picked up in town for.

Hugs to those who are poorly or caring for someone who is and those with troubles/worries.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

The system won't let me edit my post.

    I was trying to add:

Enjoy your break away nan, I hope that you have a lovely relaxing time.

Sorry to read about the break in during the funereal FBO, it was a difficult enough time for you all as it was without this on top.

Judi hopefully your son's test results will come back ok. I know it won't stop you worry while you are waiting for them though.

Glad Lulu's move went well Lainey.

    Morning everyone,

Grey and overcast here in East Anglia but at least it isn't raining, we ended up having a real downpour after yesterday's bright start. I managed to get caught up on a few chores though so not much to do today, did pick up a piece of beef brisket so that will go in the slow cooker shortly.
Tilly could do with a good long walk as it's all been a bit rushed the last few days and DOH wants to come with me to see Lulu at her new yard so perhaps we will amalgamate the two.

Sorry to read about the break-in FBO there is some real low life out there, hugs Dumpling hope today is a peaceful family day for you, enjoy your break away NAN.

Have a good day folks x

    Morning everyone.

The wind howled and raged all night again and now everything is grey and misty. Can’t believe the amount of rain there’s been.

Today will be a planning day. A new semester starts tomorrow so two new subjects to teach (not new to me but I must refresh myself).

I bought a YS Charlie Bingham meal yesterday which I’m looking forward to, so that’s easy today. No washing to do and DW is empty.

I hope everyone keeps well and warm.

    Happy Sunday.

    Morning All

More rain here, if it was windy last night I didn't hear it! I do wish I could sleep past 5.30, that's my usual time for getting up on weekdays but could do with a little longer at weekends.

Only one load of washing to do, DW and bins emptied. The fire was still going this morning so I've kept it going although it's quite mild this morning.

I'm going to meet DD later and have a wander around town, I need to collect something in Glasgow so can do that whilst I'm there. Going for lunch at a tatty chinese place, 2 courses and soft drink for £5.50, can't be that bad can it?

Glad you survived Friday FBO, sorry to hear about the break in.
Hope school goes ok for Becky dumpling.
    Happy holidays nanny!

Must go in the shower and have some breakfast. Happy Sunday, take care. XX

    Morning everyone
I've had a nice lazy start to the day sat in bed with my breakfast and my laptop, I don't need to go down to my mams early today as she's not going to church - instead we have family coming for Sunday lunch - my twin brother, his son and wife and their two little girls, so that will be nice. I do like a proper Sunday lunch.
It's very grey here this morning and looks like its raining, though the wind seems to have stopped. There was a gale blowing all day yesterday. Had a nice chat with eldest DD yesterday - she has so much work to do before she finishes uni in May and is feeling a bit fed up. I really think they could spread the workload a bit more evenly over the years, so they wouldn't have so much stress as they get closer to finishing. She says she just wants to be done with it now so she can get on with whatever comes next.
Well I'm going to sit in bed and attempt to mend some socks! I seem to have developed a sock problem - if I put a new pair on I can guarantee I'll have a hole in the toe of my left sock by the end of the day! My nails are very short so that can't be the problem - and it's never the sock on my right foot!
Hope everyone has a good Sunday.
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Well yesterday was a good day, no dizzies at all, fingers crossed it continues. OH is still in bed says he is getting up about 10.30. I did not sleep very well was still awake at 3am. No nana nap for me, I feel so awful if I nap in the afternoon, hopefully will sleep better tonight.

We got the letter yesterday from the hospital, so the GP can prescribe the medication that the neurologist recommended, if it does not work she has said that they may consider a nerve block. We will see.

Its a fine morning, sun keeps breaking through, I have a load in the washer, doubt it will dry on the line though, we will see when its finished. Can always put it out and then finish it in the dryer.

Pork for supper tonight, have a butternut squash so will roast some of it with the potatoes, cabbage and carrots. The trife is finished so need to sort out some sort of dessert.

    Morning all

Bit grey and drizzly here (the weather not me !) so washing is in the td with another load in the wm.

We went to Ikea yesterday and I have to say I will not be repeating the experience on a Saturday again, when we have been before its been during the week and fairly quiet, it was heaving yesterday and we did not get out of there till tea time and then it took us ages to get back through the traffic, I got straight in and put my PJ's on and had a large gin !!

OH is just converting the cupboard to drawers and later on he has offered to go and get the shopping, I shall stay here and give the house a good clean through and cook dinner, I fancy a jacket spud with cheese and ham and some salad.

Must hoover through and get everyone to take their washing up will dust and empty the fire and re lay it for later, also the kitchen floor could do with a wash.

Right better get on have good days all xx
