estimating mashed potato
I am sure that there are some OS people here who know! Community get-together this evening - I have been given a large dish (about 30cms square & 15 deep) to "slightly over-fill" with mashed potato (ooh, we know how to do Valentines!). I am thinking that I will peel & quarter enough potatoes to fill this dish one-&-a-half…

Bread
Sorry folks, I know this has probably been done to death, but thought I'd ask anyway. I've been thinking of making my own bread, but I don't know whether it's worth getting a breadmaker, or just doing it by hand. Aside from a one off in primary school I've never made my own, so I really have no clue what I'm doing! :)…

simple/basic cookbook
Hi all, Hope this is the right forum, not sure it really fits in the student one. Basically I'm looking for a really simple/basic cookbook? Not neccessarily a student one - but ideally one that doesn't include lots of convoluted, complex recipes. Ideally (shock horror), it would be one that doesn't require hundreds of…

Steam cleaners
Does a steam cleaner actually clean stuff, i.e. get rid of grime, or does it just sanitise the surface? I'm considering getting a steam cleaner for general cleaning, but in particular I want it to clean my light-coloured couch (fabric) and curtains. The couch in particular is starting to look a bit grubby. Will a steam…

How to change a habit
I'm really embarrassed to say that I feel like I have got into a really bad habit with drinking wine. It has become routine to drink 2 small glasses of wine each day. Dragons Den: Approved Foods
I was quite surprised when they popped up on Dragons Den. I assumed they were already a successful business but it seems they don't make that much money, which is a shame. They were turned down by all the dragons.
