OH was doing an oil change on the drive and accidently knocked over the bucket of old dirty oil, so now we have a large patch of oil over the drive, luckily it wasnt the whole bucket spild, but it is alot. He tried washing it off with hot soapy water but this hasnt worked, any ideas of how to clean it all off.
Thanks in advance

We had some problems when a new oil filter leaked over our newly laid block paving (typical). We found a biological cleaner online but I can't find the name of it now, sorry. I recall it being very expensive for a half litre bottle.
Perhaps something like this is worth a go? http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/engine-cleaner-degreaser/gunk-driveway-clear-1lMake £2025 in 2025

Iv never had to clean one myself but my dad swears by soaking it in WD40 then leaving a few scoops of cat litter on it for an hour before sweeping it up. Then repeat as necessary.
My guess is that that the WD40 loosens/dilutes it, then the cat little soaks up the both of them.Borrowed - £148000 June 2013

I use a washing powder called deepio (i get it in makro) its a washing powder designed for oily/greasy clothes (OH work clothes) - as this has happened to us a few times when a repeat guest came - along with oil leak!!!
I leave a small scattering of it on for a few days a repeat if necessary0 -
If above fail, try Gunk, from Halfords, or other car spars outlets, it is for degreasing engines and the like, not cheap but it worksEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

As soon as oil is spilled, throw some cat litter (cheap as chips!) all over it. It will soak it all up into clumps that make it easy to get rid of. I learned this after I dropped a full bottle of olive oil all over the kitchen floor! Whether I have a cat or not, I always have cat litter in the house these days.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

use the cat litter as suggested, sweep up then spray with Fairy power spray.. not cheap but goes a long way. Scrub in with a deck brush and leave for about 15 mins then hose off0

Try pouring coca cola and leaving overnight, then rinsing down with soapy water.0
