O/S Daily Wednesday 11th February 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, not sure if we have a frost or not. Load in WM.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now up and getting ready for work. DS2 now getting ready for school.

Dinner last night was scampi, chips, beans and side salad for the menfolk, I had fish, jacket potato and veg. Tonight will be spag bol.

Only working until lunchtime today – so then will do all the normal chores, but will have to go to next town to place an order as I can’t find the relevant info on their website, I must do this today so the order is placed, as I’m running out of time.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

Lovely and mild today, gives me hope about spring really springing. Got loads of little bulbs coming through the grass in the back garden.

In the office, trying to ignore the pile of marking, just seeing my days out here and thinking more about 'what's next'.

Got my breakfast ready to eat and lunch in the 'fridge.

    Hope everyone is well.

    Morning All

Fairly mild here too but washing on the airers, should be dry when I get home from work.

DD has given me her cold, I feel I have spent the whole winter unwell and am getting a bit fed up with it now. Still, today is the first day back after half term so only 3 days this week.

My cousin and husband may be coming today for a few days, or it could be tomorrow! They aren't very organised so will see them when they turn up. The only thing we have planned is the Scotland/Wales rugby match in Edinburgh on Sunday.

Hope you are all ok, take care. XX
  • Morning all, miserable looking day here, at least in the dark it looks to be!

Up at silly o'clock again so been a busy bee. Bolognese sauce simmering away to make a Cheesy Bolognese Bake when it's ready. Pasta ready and waiting. The 3 DGDs here for tea and sleepover (DD on early shift tomorrow) and it's in their top three of favourite meals!

I'm out for the day with a friend. We are going to Skipton and hopefully a few hardy stallholders will be setting up! Then we like to scour the charity shops and see if we can spot any bargains. After that it's lunch - highlight of the day. It's nice to catch up on any gossip and offload our worries. Mr TA's lunch all ready and waiting for him to pop in the microwave!

He enjoys it when I disappear for the day as he can sit all day watching re-runs of his old favourite comedy shows! He must be word perfect on Fools and Horses, Dad's Army etc!!

No magic cure off the doctor yesterday sadly. Sample sent off and keep taking the antibiotics. I have tried various herbal/natural remedies but unfortunately, though they get good reviews, they don't seem to work for me.

Have a good day all. Take care x Hey snoozer we may have walked passed each other Monday in HB!

    Morning all,

Not so cold here today hopefully spring is on the way. I have woken with a sore throat which I do not want so it can go away sharpish, one of the clients at work has come down with mumps and has been quarantined for 8 days, so lets hope he has not spread it round.

Going to put a beef casserole in the SC before I go to work this morning with some dried beans have had soaking overnight and some odd bits of veg I have left.

Will do a wash tonight and put what I can on the airer the rest can do in the td.

Have a good day all xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I've just cooked some kippers so there is a decidedly fishy miasma in the dumpling home today. Typically, I had just finished eating them when the phone rings and it's my mother wanting to visit me today. I'm going to be burning some scented oil in a minute to hopefully disguise the pong :D. I love my mother dearly but she has very high standards with her housework and her home is always immaculate, safe to say mine is 'lived-in' with overtones of dog hair :rotfl::rotfl:. Anyway, I will jump in the shower in a minute, get dressed and then push the hoover round the worst bits.

My eldest daughter is coming for lunch today as I made extra lemon chicken yesterday and DD13 is making a lasagne in school for our tea so a nice easy day for me today. Oh yes, DD12 is making fairy cakes in school today as well so that's pudding sorted :D.

Slimming World is going well, I am quite enjoying the cooking so far but the only hard thing is substitutions for bread. I was so used to making sandwiches or toast when I was hungry I'm finding it all needs a bit more thought now. I have a bread roll everyday so I am not going without it completely. I'm sure I will get more into the swing of it soon though the more I practice.

Well, I'd better stir my stumps and get going before the royal visit :D. Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Good morning all

Sky is very grey and miserable here but have planned a short walk to a church in one of the nearby villages as need to be out and doing something.

Will be calling in to the butchers to get some mince so that I can use the remains of a jar of passata and other bits and make spag bol for tonight. Might make flapjacks or a cake as well.

Other than that not much happening here today.

    Enjoy your day everyone :)

    Morning all.

I seem to be sleeping the clock round now hubby isn't here. Woke up earlier to let the Girls out but went back to bed and I've just woke up. Yes I'm shamefully writing this post from in bed.

Not sure what I'm doing today. With hubby away and Youngest at work they don't make any mess.

Not complaining though cause there's enough dog hairs to keep me busy.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all
