Iced up freezer
My freezer must have had the door open a teeny bit. Nothing has defrosted but it has iced up so the drawers mean the door will only shut if something leans against it. So it needs defrosting. Unfortunatley it us packed to bursting, there is no meat (but a bag of prawns I will throw out). Everything is vegetables or veggie.…

Anyone used a Wonder Cooker lid thingy? :)
I picked up one of these at a charity shop for £1, so if it is a load of *$!&, I haven't lost a lot :D . Has anyone ever used one and if so what did you think of it? To be honest, I wasn't sure what you did with it, I just had a look, saw that it has never been used (still sealed in bag in box) so took a gamble.…

Wilton Icing Nozzle Advice - Fake?
Hi I ordered a Wilton Icing nozzle from Ebay. As far as I'm aware, Wilton nozzles have 'wilton' and 'Korea' embossed on them like this: But the one I have received looks cheap and says 'China' on the inside of it. It wasn't in the Wilton packaging either. They have taken it off the card but sent the card with it. I can…

Knitting with 'Pom Pom' type yarn
I picked up some lovely soft Pom Pom type yarn from 99p stores today. My 5 year old would like me to make him a scarf with it, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of using this type of yarn and what size needles are likely to work best? Thanks

Hi A couple of years ago I found a nadia swalha (sp) soup recipe where you use a whole chicken, chilli, a whole load of other herbs and veg etc but can't find it now. Does anyone else have it please? Basically, everything was simmered for six hours or so and was beneficial to those who were ill? I would love to find this…

Preparing for maternity leave - Is a slow cooker worth it?
Hi all I've been reading through a lot of threads about slow cookers etc. and I think I'm coming round to the idea of one. My friend gave me one a few years back but to be honest it was massive (6.5l I think) so was too big to store anywhere. I also found that I never used it as I just presumed that the only thing that can…

Only to find that one to fit it would cost a whopping…

Remedy for Athletes Foot
Around 6 months ago my right foot appeared to develop red blotches on the top with skin peeling of between the 3rd and 4th toes on both feet. First I dismissed it as rubbing sores. However, they were itchy, persistent but weren't really painful like sores. Then a few months back I read a post on a forum about people not…

Raw cacao powder... what to do with it?
I bought some raw cacao powder for this supposedly healthy cake recipe. The cake was fairly awful so I don't want to make it again. Wondering what to do with the rest of the raw cacao powder. Can I just use it in place of normal cocoa powder in recipes? I have spent ages hunting online and found only healthy cake and…

Brita filter gauge
The water filter gauge on my kettle stopped working so I contacted Brita. Not only did they replace the item free of charge but they also included a spare. They didn't ask for proof of purchase or the purchase date. An internet search for the same item leads to one supplier only and they charge £4.48 incl postage.…
