O/S Daily Thread Wednesday 10th September
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now getting light, dry underfoot and not windy, seems like we may get a dry day, hoping for some sunshine too.

DH is up and getting ready for work. DS1 up, had brekkie and now getting ready to leave for work. He seemed to have an enjoyable day yesterday.

Dinner last night was slow cooker beef casserole with dumplings, mash, veg and LO Yorkshires – I just had a Yorkshire pud and not dumpling – all eaten and enjoyed, ice cream for those that wanted them afterwards. Tonight should have been pork chops but I’ve realised that I haven’t got them out to defrost – so if I can get someone to get them out before leaving this morning, that’s what we’ll have, if not – I’ll do the spag bol for tonight and pork chops for tomorrow night – that’s the beauty of planning you can think ahead and can be prepared so expensive trips to the SM or buying a last minute takeaway can be avoided! DS2 went to the local shop and got me some more milk and a packet of bread rolls.

Did an on-line shop yesterday to arrive tomorrow afternoon, I seem to spend a lot of money this way but at the moment if I don’t buy on-line I’m not up to hobbling round a SM. I’m beginning to wonder if I’m actually spending the same amount/a bit less but just in 1 place whereas I normally go to 2 different shops – A**I for majority of the shop, then what I can’t get in there I go to MrT as it’s on my way home. I have discovered though that I don’t particularly like MrT’s meat etc, whereas MrM’s meat is a better deal and generally better quality meat – so have been buying meat in there, once I’m back to full fitness and am doing this things for myself I’ll be visiting MrM.

Mum and dad came over yesterday to bring the washing back, so sat and had a cuppa with them. They also brought some more tomatoes (we have loads already from our tomato plants that we had in the greenhouse!) and some cooking apples, I’ll sit and peel them today and cook them in the microwave then bag them up and freeze them – will use them at a later date for apple crumble/apple pie.

Will do my normal chores today – I pay several bills on a Wednesday afternoon on-line, so will do that this morning. Again I will wait until everyone else has left then get washed and dressed in my own time.

Take care x

Keep safe and well x

Morning all,

Nice hay here again its just a little cold in the morning / evening but the days have been beautiful.

Off to work for me this is my 5th day and I am starting to flag now, only two more to go !

Not sure about dinner we have come chorizo sausages which I might do with peas and rice which is lovely meal, all depends what time I get in.

Need to do a wash tonight and have a tidy through.

Have good days nall xx
• Morning all

Hubby's been fed & dropped at work with his packup, I will be off in about 20 mins.

Judi, lovely pics of the new babies.

Molly, I hope you & hubby enjoyed your spa day

LW I hope the 'Hairy Hooligans' haven't worn you out.

I'm covering a different role for part of every morning for the next month or so, we have a colleague off with depression, we are a very small team, 8 of us so when someone is out sick it puts pressure on the rest of us, we also have someone off for 2 weeks because of a bereavement, so we are in for a hectic time.

On the thread yesterday people were talking about cutting down on their clothes, I did this last year. I now manage with 7 dresses, 3 thin cardigans, 1 chunky cardigan & 3 pairs of shoes, it is doable.

Tea tonight is carbonara as I have a couple of slices of ham to use up & some bread rolls that are going stale so I will turn them into garlic bread.

Have a good day everyone.

Hugs Hester
Chin up, Titus out.

Yesterday's trip to the farm was really good, the children got to see sheep and cows (with the cutest little calf), milk a plastic cow, make butter, sit in/on tractors, watch a cookery demonstration, mill flour and generally have a good time. I was quite tired when I got in, lots of standing around but the weather was good.

Turkey stir fry for tea last night, baked pot tonight - DD will probably have cheese and I will have mushy peas on mine. Washing just about to go out, given up trying to clean as the dust from the building work upstairs just makes more mess!

DDs room coming on, the wardrobes are huge! If she complains she doesn't have any room after this then there's something wrong! No decision yet about the colours, will make her decide tonight. Went looking for door handles and hinges yesterday after work, only to remember about 7pm that I have already bought knobs that match the dressing table - gosh my memory is poor!!

Anyway, hope you all have a good day, hugs to all, especially if you're not feeling too good.

Take care. XX

Good morning everyone :hello:

We are off to a rushed start this morning as 2 of my DD's alarms failed to go off , cue headless chickens. They still have 30 mins so not too bad although they have to have breakfast, get dressed, make a packed lunch and unload the dishwasher before leaving for school. I'm sure they will do it with some 'gentle' nagging.

Today is the first day I will be looking after my grandson while my daughter works. I am going to attempt to get out with him and take him on the bus to town. I need some card for my crafting and I have to get electric whilst I'm out but honestly my hands are sweating just typing this. She wants me to do a school run next week but I really don't know if I can.

My CMHT social worker came to see me yesterday. She was very nice and is coming back next week with a support worker who is going to help with my anxiety about going out. Hopefully this will help or I don't know what I am going to do.

I am planning on trying the coconut impossible pie from the grocery challenge recipe index for pudding today. I won't be eating it as it looks quite sweet but I think my family will enjoy it. Tea is easy, just meatballs and spaghetti so I don't have to worry too much about that. I've caught up with our washing as well so I need to put that away and run the hoover round before my grandson arrives so I will love you and leave you. Hope everyone manages to have a nice day today. Take care xx
• Morning all :) I can honestly say I am looKing forward to the weekend when I don't have to nag sleepy kids to get out of bed! At least they are now eating breakfast albeit very noisily and grumbly!

Most of the pack lunches have been made up but just need to finish those. I left some veg peelings and sorry for itself veg in the slow cooker with the chicken bones from last night's dinner so have a lovely smelling stock this morning which I will turn into a soup (not sure what yet though). The parsnip & apple soup was delicious and went down very well with everyone except Miss 'I don't eat vegetables'.

I have a hospital appointment today. Will be glad once that's over with. I hate that a ten minute appointment will take an age but they are busy so have to wait patiently :o Hopefully I will find out when my surgery is going to take place.

Hope everyone has a good day :)

Morning all :)

Camelot- my memory is appalling too. I'm constantly getting to the top of the stairs and the. Forgetting what I was going upstairs to get! Sounds like a great farm visit tho!

Dumpling- really good luck with your trip out today. Just make it not too far from home so you can keep telling yourself that when ever you want to go back it's only 10/20 mins away. I'll be thinking of you xx

Well I put on the oven to preheat for dinner last night, then went in 20 mins later and it was still stone cold although the fan was going
Luckily the grill still worked so we managed dinner, but I will have to buy a new oven today.

Finally found a course I want to do. I wanted to have a go at writing but I get all muddled with grammar etc, but the college near DH work does a course covering both so I will sign up. I also wouldn't mind learning massage as a career although I'd only either work in a salon or do women at home - no dodgy "massages" thank you!!

I'm going to pinch Hesters idea and do pasta tonight as I only need a hob for that :D

Have a super day all hugs always here for those who need them xx

The dentist wasn't as bad as I thought, didn't even need to be numbed because there was hardly anything to clean :T So no headache yesterday :D I was still lazy all afternoon though :D

I'll get that paperwork out of the way this morning then sort the garden pots. A few tomato plants need to be pulled up, I'll tidy the greenhouses while I'm in there. I've started another baby blanket, will get that finished this afternoon. I'll have to stop at about 4pm for a shower, I'm seeing the osteopath at teatime.

Morning all.

I've had a super busy couple of day, which resulted in me being in bed at 9 last night, slept sound until 7 this morning. I was at the animal sanctuary the last 2 mornings, I've fell into a routine of cleaning out the dogs and then walking a couple. It's back breaking work, but I love it. I need to change my house work routine to fit in with my shifts. I'm attempting to do too much on the days I'm there.

This morning I heard OH get up and the scuffling of paws. The dogs must've let themselves in to sleep on the sofas. Only thing is one of them peed on it. I can guess who. If she's scared she wets herself. Luckily the chair is leather.

Mr t is delivering the groceries today, just because they charge less than a$da and I dont trust a$da anymore after they let me me down twice.

It's a beautiful day here, as was yesterday. Everybody was in shorts. Chilly at the moment but it will warm up. I've no washing to do until this afternoon. Need to wash dd2 school skirt as she's looking a bit scruffy this morning. Money is flying out of my pockets this week for different school things. I'm going to do a very quick tidy up (because I cba), take the dogs to the forest for a good walk and have an afternoon of doing nothing, zilch, nada. I'm really looking forward to it.

Not sure whats for dinner, I can't remember what I ordered lol. Lunch will be lo pasta. It's only me here during the week for lunch so it's handy.

Have a good day all

:hello: everybody - looks like we've got the makings of a lovely day here :j.

nmlc - thanks for starting today's thread. Good luck with the on-line shopping - it does take some getting used to. I don't usually do it - only cos I love my whoopsies - but it's really good for when you just can't get to the shops at all. I usually do one before I go on hols and book delivery for the morning after we get back :j. I agree that Mr M's meat is really good :). Have a good day and don't try to do too much too soon.
RR - have a good day in work :).
Hester - hope work goes smoothly. wd on minimising your wardrobe :T.
camelot - your day at the farm sounds fabulous :D.
dumpling - enjoy your first day with your lovely grandson and ((((thinking about you)))) having to go outdoors.
jlhmd - hope your hospital appointment goes well ((((hugs))))
dandy-candy - good luck with the Writing Course.
tru - hope all goes well at the osteopath
caz - enjoy your walk with the dogs - sounds a perfect thing to do at this time of year :j.

Best wishes to anybody celebrating today and HSblinky_ani_bearhugs.gif for all who need them.

Yesterday worked out well.
• Got loads done in the garden - including digging out some 'buried root systems' from brambles and trees. Lots more nettles / bindweed / bramble shoots found and pulled up.
• Good meeting at the CS. I think I've volunteered for some Admin Work - but I'm still wondering quite how that happened :undecided.
• Got a visit from DS1 in the evening. He'd taken his step-son to Cubs and called here for a cuppa till he had to go back to collect him again.
• Managed to do 2 loads of HSwash.gif last night.

Plans for today include:
• Put the people566.gif shortly.
• Mystery shop this morning.
• Search for some Sweet Chilli Turkey in the Freezer to defrost. Having that with Pasta and Garlic Bread for evening meal tonight.
• Shift in CS this afternoon.

Think it's time to get started on that list and then to have a coffee before heading out for the day.

Take care all - speak again later - luv Lilyplonk xxx
