Good Morning all, came forth at the pub quiz last night but had a great time with lots of laughter which is the main idea really. The supper was a beef hot-pot thingy which was delicious and saves me cooking on a Tuesday night.
Just had an email from my friend who is on holiday in Alaska with her OH (don't ask they do travel to different places) Today she is going up the Cambell River on Vancouver Island to see the bears. From Anchorage to go on this bear watching trip its 12 and a half hours travelling !!! and no guarantee of bears at the end.Its not Disney or a zoo this is the real thing !!! They do go to some exotic spots around the world .He loves to travel and its his hobby.Sounds a bit like hard work to me but each to their own.Typically, whilst they have been away her DDs twins have started to walk.I know she was hoping to see it but her DD has got it on film at least.
This afternoon is the U3A monthly meeting so I'll pop along to that, not sure what the speaker is yet.
jlmd666 glad you enjoyed the parsnip and apple I grate a bit of nutmeg in with it when I make it as it gives it a bit of a kick.I have never used cream though . Smashing soup to use up YS parsnips and battered about apples or even the wrinkly ones from the fruit bowl.
Right time for coffee and a shower I think .Feel quite the lady of lesuire now I don't have to rush around in the mornings for the school run:):)
Cheers chums Have a great day as where I am, the sun is shining and the sky is blue

We seem to have 2 threads today as I think nmlc and I posted a new one at exactly the same time. Hopefully someone will come along and merge or delete mine.
Still exhausted and bad tempered

Morning all,
Feels like a few days since I've been on to say hi, though it's probably just Monday. I swear yesterday lasted a whole week! I'm going so google eyed looking at spread sheets at work that the whole world appears square now!
Hope you're all well and getting some sunshine, hugs to those who need or want them.
Hester if someone told me I had to cut my wardrobe down like that I think I'd have a breakdown. Not only do I have a full wardrobe/chest of drawers but I have cases of clothes that are a smaller size from when I lost weight. I'm keeping it as i'm determined to lose again. I won't even get started on shoes because I have the entire spare room cupboard for mine. They are indeed my biggest vice.
NMLC glad your DS enjoyed his first day, hope it continues.
JackieO I was lucky enough to visit Canada (Alaska would be ace) a couple of years ago for a friends wedding. She's near Edmonton so a few hours drive from the Rockies and had been trying to see bears for the few years she'd been living there. We found 5 in the three days we were on a road trip. It's absolutely mind blowing to see something like that in the wild, it's something I never thought I'd see. I hope your friends are lucky
Hoping to catch the gym tonight after work, tea will be a freezer dip and there's a planned trip to the cinema with a friend. I have an unlimited pass so she gets in with EE for free, she buys juice and munchies as her contribution.

Hi everyone,
jlhmd66 and jackieo, Celeriac and apple soup is delicious as well.
dumpling, well done for going out, hope it goes well.
I didn't post yesterday because I was in London. DD has a friend who is an alternative practitioner who has helped her a lot over the past year so I decided I would see her as well. Yesterday she did some cranial sacral therapy on me - it's all about balancing the fluids around the brain, spine and nerves. Weirdly, although she hardly touched me, I could feel differences in my back.
I also went to the Tower to see the poppy display and also to the Merchant Seaman's memorial there, OH's uncle is on it, he was 19 when he was killed in 1942.
We had fish and chips for dinner (although we only bought the chips, I had some frozen fish that we baked and a can of mushy peas) so a very easy meal.
I went to bed early to see if I could get a reasonable sleep. It still took me about 3 hours to drop off but at least that meant I got 8 hours and was able to get up at areasonable time.
My two best friends let me know that their grandchildren were born yesterday (one early, one late), I had a feeling that would happen.
Have a good day.0 -
Hello all.

Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.0 -
Morning all
Lovely and bright down here today, washing blowing on the line.
Off to yoga in an hour or so, before then just going through my holiday clothes and matching up which jewellery to take, DH makes jewellery so if I need any more I can put an order in! Was gifted a couple of dresses last night so need to finish matching up.
Had lovely day down in Hythe and Folkestone yesterday, nice mooch in shops and lots of walking.
LO fish stew for tea tonight.
Hugs where needed for those that are in need.Carolbee0 -
Good Morning everyone, the day started bright and sunny but now we've got overcast, it's not cold though but quite a comfy temperature.
We've just got back from Lidl, didn't make it yesterday and our B & M is next door so I always pop in there too and usually pick up bargains. Todays were small tins of crushed pineapple for 19p, Blue Dragon Stir In Sauces at 29p and jars of different Curry Pastes for 59p each so we're stocked up nicely with all of these and some other basics like cuppasoups to see us through the next few weeks.
He WhoKnows is going fishing this afternoon so I won't be able to get up to the library the way I'd planned but that's OK I'll go tomorrow instead. I think it's important to keep using libraries if we are still lucky enough to have them, that old saying use it or loose it is a true one and I think the world would be a sadder place if they were to close any more.
Hope all the poorlies are having a good day and feeling better and that the world is kind to all of us, Lyn xxx.0
